@Trev: local enforcement have been notified, and they will act if the perpetrator attempts to paddle out there, or any one of 6 other nearby breaks
@wands: sadly... yes
.
@reg: that spot gets bigger and better than that. about five times a year.
@BA: 35°09'25.90S 138°28'01.28E
@tomtom: on a better day ( weekday ) I would have had plenty of backup. probably serves me right for paddling out on a small, average, sunny saturday.
@animal_chin: I guess if your'e gonna act like an ignorant kook, then you'd better make sure a guy with access to an audience in the tens of thousands and a 200mm telephoto lens isn't watching
@fong: surf schools are ruining that spot as well. they are on thin ice here.
@olds: this break has a cam pointed at it, so I'm thinking I might tape a printout of the second pic to the outside of the window so whenever people check it they see our hero dropping in.
@Allan: Amen to man love.
@Alakaboo: I agree... It certainly would have been interesting to see his reponse to Allan's amourous advances.
The sad part is our hero believes he's done nothing wrong - it's all the "snakers" that are the problem. Someone else mentioned signs explaining ettiquette, which I reckon they will work about as well as the "keep left except when overtaking" signs we have on our freeways here. In that situation everyone is forced to drive in the right hand lane because everyone else does, and people who try to do the right thing end up disadvantaged - even penalised in a way. It's a pretty good analogy for what I see happening out in the water, where you start to feel like a chump for playing by "the rules".
