Noosa Webcam

Post by lostman » Tue Dec 14, 2010 3:09 pm

Gotta say the new coastalwatch cam for Noosa is pretty good, nice and big and clear with a great zoom. Its kinda just what Noosa needs, making it easier to check the conditions!
I bet Big Jim, the king of Hasting St, had something to do with it. Hasting St traders levy??
Also noticed the sand pump going full bore yesterday (Big Jims handy work again).. will it fcuk up the inside banks again in time for the season or have another sweet stretch when its on from Johnnos through to outside first point?

You gotta remember Nossa is the type of wave everyone wants to surf, its summer the cams wont make much diff. Honestly can it get more crowded than it already is in peak season.

Go find a nice little sand bank for yourself.

haaaaaa'' there is an agenda hidden here with the sand pumping
the only thing you will see on the web cam will be sand and a rock reef from the park down to the bar :( /b]

whats the deal with the sand pumping? are they pumping out the river bar and moving sand to the north, as would make sense with longshore drift? how would this effect the national park?
or are they doing something different? pumping sand from the nudie beach or something

as a kid i was a regular visitor to Sunshine to visit relos, but first ive heard of sand pumping at noosa.
edit: this explains it http://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/add ... d_info.pdf

The nudie beach is a long way around the point, marcus.
I think they pump from the river mouth. The main beach often ends up just rock wall in heavy seas.

They pump from the rivermouth back into main beach because as TrevG said there is no beach after heavy seas. No beach equals no tourists apparently. All that sand ends up in the bay and obviously affects the natural sand movement. Early in the year there was a sweet bank wide of first point which was kinda strange but threw up some dredging pits on certain tides/swell. Not to crowded either which was strange..
