Frugal rhymes with Portugal

Post by Donweather » Sun Oct 03, 2010 8:32 am

Well that's about the best I could come up with for now.

God I hope they get better surf in Portugal than they did last year. Bakio is such a fecked wave.

Wrong conny Don.

They got great surf in Portugal last year.

Your thinking of the now defunct Mundaka conny.

Does anyone (including Ripcurl) know anywhere around Peniche that can handle a monster WNW swell (6m@16 sec) and WSW winds? Slater may need to get some larger boards flown in for this event!!!

Supertubos....well it's looking rather super average today. Yeah sure it's clean and fun, but waves are very inconsistent and the guys really aren't doing much on them. Perhaps the inconsistency might improve with the incoming tide?

I'd be happy to surf those lefts, not flawless chopes but still good fun and plenty of tubes....
Ace could be the man to beat if waves stay the same....dunno bout the draw but Ace and CJ looked prob the best to me....

was thinking the same thing Prids.
I don't like the lame little foam bounce thing CJ always does to try and bump up the score, but he's great at threading barrels.
Although Gudauskus (sp?) looked alright, the one who took down Melling. Not sure how the other one beat Freddy P, Freddy was pretty fast.

I really picked the eyes out of it last night. Missed the back to back Kelly-Dane-Jordy heats due to work, then saw Dingo get a few, then went to bed in time to miss Ace's heat!

How the heck did Ace not get a 10 for getting 2 reasonably deep tuberides on 2 different waves?
He made the waves look unreal!

The highlight for me was the unbelievably effete Pom with the bizzaro accent doing the beach interviews.

Holy fcuk what kind of Freak Circus did they scour to find this cat.
He makes GT look like Chuck Norris.

His interviewing was shabby as all get-out as well.
I thought a snarling Bobby Martinez was gunna pull out a gat and put a cap in the poor cnuts arse.

He did ask a good question to Slater though, about the pyschological state needed to protect a lead coming into the Final events.
Slater confirmed he will stay on the offence and keep doing the things he has done so far to get where he is. He said he will trust his instincts.......which Jordy Smith seems to have lost faith in.
He also said it was "hard not to think about it", considering where he is in his career and what it would mean.
If I were Fanning that would be the psychological achilles heal right there.......I would be mentioning that at every chance....so Slater couldn't escape the pressure of this potential last shot at immortality.

^haven't seen any interviews live, but I caught some of that muppet somewhere.
figure that's why it's been cut out of the Heats on Demand...

yeah, Jordy's given up, Dane's patchy. It's Mick and Kelly for the title. Remains to be seen whether Taj can step up or once more disappear into the wilderness on the Euro leg.

Andy's surfing like Parko, seems to be less anger in his turns. Waves let him down, he was unlucky to get pipped by Kai.

CJs' board looked short and wider, anyone know dims ? looked like it was goin well....also I didnt see KS surf, what did he ride ? I'll have a look at heat replays....would have been good waves for him to ride his little quads I reckon.....and Dane, he is usually riding that same board but might have suited his Dumpster diver maybe.....and saw Dane interviewed by that Evans guy, he does the worst interviews ever, what is his go ? anyway, Dane was wearing some sweater that didnt appear to be Quikky, and plain trakky pants too, not sure but think they even discussed it but I had kids and wife all talking so missed it....

Don, a better name for the thread would have been:
Peniche rhymes with Ceviche
