Hmm yes forecast looks mad. The locals in a certain western Vic town with a very long point break will be setting up road blocks and machine gun nests on Wednesday.

Hatchman wrote:Surf was massive over my way.

Biggest maximum wave reading was 5.51 metres around lunchtime on the Port of Melbourne buoy in Bass Strait

Flinders was huge, averaging around 3 metres on the face with bigger ones closing the place out, so I ventured round to Point Leo. Got heaps of rides, stayed out for three hours :D

Ringmaster wrote:Everywhere was pumping round here today. Two good surfs on a local reef with the 4pm till dark sesh being the best. Some flawless waves coming through.

Thanks for the tip Hatchy :!:

Woulda missed it if not for you. I owe ya a cupla beers
Don't say I don't do nothing for ya Ringo!
It was the 2nd biggest session I've had at Flinders!

I paddled out to BiG Left & proceeded to get smashed yesterday then made my way over to Cyrils for another lesson from mother nature...

Yeah a couple of times while I was under I was waiting for the thump on the head from my board or the rocks on the bottom but lucky me it was only a shortage of air that seemed to be the issue!

From Swellnet's summary for this week

It should be noted that these swells will only be for the most experienced surfers at the exposed breaks due to the large and unforgiving nature of the waves. Therefore if you're not competent in you're ability this isn't a time to push yourself. Take care.

Nice to see a bit of care being shown :D

Shattered I have to work this morning, although the winds are making it a soup out there at the moment. Flinders looks like a giant washing machine

Data from the Pt Lonsdale buoy and yes that is in metres
Approx. time of reading 16/09/2010 08:36
Significant wave 4.18 metres
Maximum wave 6.03 metres
Significant period 11.9 seconds
Peak period 15.4 seconds

And at 0600 this morning the Cape Sorell buoy recorded a 17 metre wave

Work? Bah humbug!

I always get all worked up when the charts are doing this...it can mean anything from totally out of control to a nice lil' very sheltered peeler somewhere...

So I'm loading up with anything that still floats me.

8'
7'8
7'4
6'10
6'5...

Have gun will travel..have camera will shoot...
