Ask Carroll

Post by mical » Tue Sep 07, 2010 8:34 am

NC has informed of his intention to call it a day from RS at 6,000 posts.
Nick Carroll wrote:Not far till 6000 when I think I will take a leaf from ol wanto and bid yas adieu.

So Roy or anyone else who wants to ask me something on these forums, go right ahead. I'm at your service till 6000 is up, and I'll answer anything you ask, if I can.
Nick Carroll wrote:Can I suggest that anyone who wants to ask a question start a thread separate from this one, it kinda feels a bit weird being stuck on the end of a farcical argument over the word "Olo".
Now's your chance.

1. Best piece of advice you've ever been given?

2. Greatest surfing memory?

Gday Nick
what would it take to get you to change your mind about leaving the forum?
not meaning to piss in your pocket and risk being called a bum crawler, but as this forum starts to get more and more knowlegable members, they decide to leave at some magic number.
you have provided so much to the forums, and thank you for that, and hope you change your mind.

when the trouble makers and trolls threaten to leave, to me its ..meh  who cares, good riddence.
but others who actually know what they are talking about is a different story.
perhaps some of your aquaintances may be interested in joining us here?
cheers
Marcus

Ditto (to marcus' comment)

Why 6000?

You've added a level of cred to the forums that no-one else can match.

But if you feel that realsurf forums are sucking your life away, I completely understand. Had that thought myself of late.

Nicky why do people seem to put you on a pedastal? Surely there are people out there with a similar knowlege of surfing and an equally affable personality.

also:

I have previously got into trouble for propositioning people's daughters on here before but seeing as this is my last chance I figure I would give it a shot. Your daughter and I are of similar age, is she single?

If yes, does she like tall, skinny guys who play non contact sports reasonably well and post on internet forums frequented by predominantly middle aged men who talk openly about pooing and masturbation?

Hi Nick ... hows things going down Newport way? ... is little Tommy still dropping in and snaking? ... speaking of TC ... has he still got the shits with one of Big Simons little bro's for piddling on his leg at a party some time back? ... how many posts to go before you leave? ... two hundred and thirty two ... does that sound correct? ... are you going to fritter them away on silly questions? ... or are you going to use them wisely? ... will you miss realsurf? ... will realsurf miss you? ... anyway big fella ... gotta say I love your work and things wont be the same around here without you ... personally I don't think you should be allowed to leave until you find a worthwhile replacement ... thats not to much to ask ... is it ... :?:

PS ... NO NOT ROY ...

How do you string a sentence together :(

I've got 40,000 words, and to me it's (well, you know  )

now some cnut says I'm going to fail if I don't do exactly what he says.

so I blacklisted his email address.

ps

Thanks for your time here Nick.
In the spirit of all things RS, a couple of lightweight quips and then a few serious ones.

1. Which thread have you most enjoyed participating in?
1. And of course, which thread have you least enjoyed ...in or avoided?
Now for some serious ones.
1. Have you had trouble getting through on here with your iPhone today? Is it this pesky southerly?
1. What are tonights winning lotto numbers?
1. Do you think god is a goofy footer?

Would you like to?
