Re: Ask Carroll
Farts are gases created as by products of bacterial activity during digestion.
Farting is usually a sign of a healthy infestation of bacteria in the gut. If you're not farting, look out.

Brownhornet I have Surfinz in a few boards and like them. There is one big issue though. If you rip one out it is very very hard to find a replacement anywhere if you need one installed. No one seems to carry them anymore.

Re: Ask Carroll
Thanks Natho. Bit of a deterrent hearing that. A quick search shows only a few oz shapers using them. I might chase this up before I go down the line of committing. Sure I will bust a box first wave after hearing that. They do seem like a good design.
Re: Ask Carroll
Nick,
would you be interested trying out one (or a few) of Geoff McCoy's boards?
I'd really like a report by someone like you, who has both the ability to ride boards to their capacity, and the ability to write well about it.
Considering that Geoff McCoy is one of Australia's most iconic shapers, and that he has been refining his boards for more than half a century, and that many of his design principles have been imitated widely in the last 15 years, and that they are so different from what you usually ride, it might prove to be most interesting.
I'm particularly interested in a ride report that analyses if Geoff's boards are really making surfing as easy as possible, while allowing the best performance that one can get while the board remains forgiving.
I can lend you a 6'2'' Astron Zot if you like.

Re: Ask Carroll
well Mik it's kind of you to offer, I'll have a think about it - would probably rather ride one that came a bit closer to what I'd normally surf in volume etc
The way I'd do it would be to ask Geoff directly if he had a second hand one, get his breakdown of the design then see how it felt in the water.
I'm pretty busy right now so may not find the time for a while.

Re: Ask Carroll
Hi Nick, why did Eddie Rothman spit in the face of Sam George at the surfer poll awards?

Re: Ask Carroll
the problem with that serve Mik was it was way to slow and fat at 6'2 and had too much funny names spin on it.
At nick's game level, it would appear that he decided to return it out of courtesy. Now instead of just smashing it down the sideline with 5'9ish speed and agility, he played a brilliant drop shot with backspin that just cleared the net and dropped dead.
The real jewel was the use of wonderful disguise with the ol 'too busy' footwork)
One finds that often those coaching tips from GM on equipment leave the player quite a bit poorer financially at the amusement of many others.

There's a good idea for Realsurf. Start an 'Ask Eddie Rothman' thread.Nick Carroll wrote: I dunno, ask Eddie.
Maybe Don could contact Mr. Rothman and see if he would be amenable. I'll just be hiding behind the couch.

Why? Fighting is fcuken stupid even if you have a really good reason.Drailed wrote:apparently so, wanted Sam to go otuside with him and when Sam didn t he spat in his face.

Definition of Ultimate Stupidity: Picking a fight with a gnarly cnut for no reason.
Re: Ask Carroll
Good answer, I wouldnt fight him either.
Now, Peniche - Medina left the heat 2 mins early "cos he thought he had the score", what do you make of that??

Re: Ask Carroll
well it doesn't matter a hill of beans what I make of it, Gabriel is an instinctive competitor and makes decisions off that instinct, something in his head told him to get out of the water then and there and not struggle after another score. It's a bit confusing for an onlooker but I bet we can all think of football players and others who've made odd decisions, sometimes succeeding brilliantly and sometimes just baffling the world.
Jeez though depending on who wins this contest it might be a real potboiler at Pipe.

Would love to see JJF take it off that annoying Brazilian little cry baby
