Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I first tuned a steamer into a springy in 1977
Yeah, I know it's a stupid thing to post. No context, no relevance. However, if there was something I learned from doing so*, it would be ok to mention so as to save anyone from potentially making an unnecessary mistake. See where I'm coming from, pet? FFS, man, give us something! Anything! Was the Shoe Goo any good for wetsuits? Is it cheaper than wettie glue? Do you suspect it's the same stuff in a different box? I've gone Veruca Salt. I want something and I want it now
* Cut the leg length longer than you might first think necessary. Otherwise you'll look like a tool until well into Autumn 1978

I just repaired an O'Neil steamer which was tearing across my chest from the underarm seam.
cut some patches from the 2mm part of an even older wettie and used Kwik Grip. Patched inside and out, then used a g clamp on two flat pieces of wood to squeeze it all together.
Seems OK but it's only a backup anyway.
I'll report back in due course.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

I'm too scared to post on this thread now. What if I get the context wrong: maybe too much or too little, perhaps too flippant.
I have been wearing a short sleeve 1mm top in Bali just about every day. There was a guy in the water yesterday in a steamer, he was an excellent surfer, I'm still trying to figure out wtf why?

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I wear a full wetsuit most of the time in Summer. It looks like other suits, but is a custom made from the thinnest superstretch neoprene.
It's basically a stinger suit that does not flap around and does not fall to pieces within a season.
No need to use greasy sunscreen, no rash from wax or deck grip, no bluebottle stinger problems etc etc.
It actually feels cooler than no suit sometimes, because it soaks up a bit of water and keeps you wet.
When my stretchy boardshorts started to turn transparent last Summer, I used an older pair of boardshorts, and found them very restrictive compared to the super-thin wetsuit.

Cranked, I don't know how you achieved it, but that post is altogether too flippant, too earnest, too offensive, contextually out of whack, but surprisingly spot on.

Gave it a run yesterday. Seems to have held up OK.Trev wrote:I just repaired an O'Neil steamer which was tearing across my chest from the underarm seam.

My Need steamer is already letting water in around the neck after about a dozen surfs. You get what you pay for I guess. Won't be going down that road again.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Haven't bought a new steamer since 2011. That was an Oneill Gooru gbs back zip. I bought the large short size and recently figured out that the short fitting was causing the chaff in my neck after an hour in the water.
Replaced it with an oneill pyro freak 3/2 medium. Great wetty, warm as, not as flexible as my 2/2 ebomb long sleeve springy but they are two different beasts.
I normally feel the cold for about a week or two a year but this wetty has made the winter go by almost unnoticed this year.
I've always loved oneill suits as the cut suits me.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Surfection do good deals on wetties they seem to knock 100 plus off RRP at will. Oneill Pycho 3 steamer 2 seasons and only a tiny leak behind the knee, average 3 surfs a week in winter in it. Happy. But geez it felt like medieval amour first time on this year after wearing Quicky 2ml chest zip long arm short leg, can't wait to get back in it, nice suit to wear.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
My quik steamer still feels great....can even manage to zip it up with the diaphragm thingy in place sometimes these days.....although that's still a pain in the arse to deal with.
Bought a springy the same size at Easter in Foster.....should have tried it on....it was significantly smaller. Luckily junior was in the market for one as well so he got it.
I went back and got a bong one instead after trying a few different ones.

Surfing today talking about how warm it was considering, then old mate was pointed out and we had a bit of a laugh at his expense, wearing his new need wettie arms wrapped around himself shivering. Wasn't that cold only 12 degHatchnam wrote:Arrived . And fits great. Bargain. Plenty warm too.scot wrote:Has it arrived yet?Hatchnam wrote:Just slapped sixty bucks down on a 2mm Needs jacket .
Looks a bargain ! Should do nicely to keep out a bit of wind chill.
