Re: that wetsuit discussion...
True dat. I'd never really thought about rubber as a fashion statement or a statement of manliness
Long arm short leg 2mm for spring/most of Autumn, steamer Winter into bit of spring.
Oh who am I kidding I love the rubber

anyone tried Derevko wetsuits? Tagline 'holds heavy, carries light', so must have a great cut. Is an Australian 'brand' (seller). Although as usual the size charts show my waist is apparently 8cm too small for my height

You're not wrong mate.Cranked wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 2:53 pmThere's a warm current from the north that reaches about Ulladulla in summer and retreats to, usually, not far south of Sydney. One year long ago, it retreated so far north that we had 14C water temps at Garie.petulance wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 1:55 pmSurely being two hours north of Sydney doesn't make that much of a difference to the water temperature. Some blokes in Sydney were already in steamers back in April.marauding mullet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 1:23 pmA 2mm steamer was all I ever had for Newcastle.
Was fine for all but the strong westerly wind days when I got cold after about an hour
It probably never retreats as far as Newcastle.
Boo no doubt knows it all precisely. Or I'm wrong.
I read about this in the paper once.
It was the summer of 2005/06. I was on operation on HMAS Parramatta. Reading about backpackers getting hypothermia at Bondi.

I had a few beers with the Captain of the HMAS Parramatta around that time. I think actaually was a Parramatta League fan funnily enough
Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I picked up a cheap steamer at the end of last season and didn't use it until a couple of weeks ago given the warm water. I tend ot keep my suits a long time (last time bought a steamer was about 13 years ago). Fcuk me wettie warmers are a thing of the past! They're so well sealed now you let one go and it's with you for the rest of the session

After a few more surfs, getting the zipperless version on and off is a piece of cake. Though it is a bit easier getting it off than putting it on. And to think it was $60 cheaper than the chest zip version as well.saltman wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2017 9:38 amAG47 previously labelled cypherpetulance wrote:AG47 or Highline version? I haven't gone out in the zipperless one yet. I only tried it on once. Getting it on was easy, I just have to remember how to get it off.saltman wrote: Hey Pet I have a virtually new Chest zip quiksilver steamer ( the fully lined one) in small up for grabs if you tire of the zipperless pretzel position

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
yeah, they are man.
I picked up a new ziperless Xcel infinity comp 2mm SS long legs on the weekend. wore it this arvy for the first time. Was unreal.
a zipperless 3/2 is pretty easy to get in and out of. I used a zipperless patagonia 4/3 before ... and deadset, you feel like you need to do a Griggs from lethal weapon and dislocate your shoulder on your car bonnet to get the fucker off.
it was brand new, and i only wore it testing it for the mag. people who have 'em say they soften up and get heaps of flex, but there's a solid 2-3 weeks of wearing it in before that happens.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I'm using a long john with a long sleeve front zip top. Works fine, really easy to get on and off, but I dont surf much in oz any more.
Both are 2mm, that gives 4mm on the body, and very little constriction for paddling

I've got a long john too (not bragging) and love it, but it has to be worn with something on the shoulders to stop flushing. Usually use a rashie or a really thin 1mm s/s vest. Great freedom

You don't need a 4:3 in Queensland anyway.steve shearer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2017 6:17 pmfcuk that noise, life is too short to wrassle with rubber.
