I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Rubber doesn't perish unless it's affected by outside conditions.Legion wrote:You're a rubber guy. You know that old rubber dries, cracks and perishes. OK, a couple of years won't make much difference but it does perish.
It will go hard though.
But my point was what you alluded to. A couple or a few years won't have any noticeable effect. I still have an O'Neil steamer from 1996, cut down to a springie coz the knees wore out. Just a bit stiffer than when new.

My Xcel wetsuit is taking in water around the shoulders and arms. I had a look at the lining on the inside and noticed the bits around the shoulders are pretty thread bare. Could be time to get some neoprene cement or Seam Grip.

Take the tyre talk elsewhere. While I'm at it, petulance, you electronic piece of junk, put your wetsuit issue into context or it's worthless. AI, my arse

In a shed? With the heat?Legion wrote:I've dug some old ones out of the shed and they've fallen apart like old cardboard. 3 or 4 times.
I do have some bar treads from 1966 that are still in great condition and roadworthy new old stock but they suck to drive on and they're hardly regular tyres. Seen plenty of perished old tyres that just start to perish through age, not being stored in a controlled environment (just in a shed or whatever).
Good one.
Yep. All rubber will perish with age, but unless they're exposed to shit like ozone, it's years before any noticeable effect.

I hear roadbike tyres are particularly susceptible to heat

Eh? I said that the inside of my wetsuit around the shoulders are a bit "threadbare" and need to be filled up. I bought some Shoe Goo yesterday for this purpose.swvic wrote:Take the tyre talk elsewhere. Tubulars apparently are. More so than clinchers.alakaboo wrote:I hear roadbike tyres are particularly susceptible to heat

Yes, you did, you bubble-headed booby. What you didn't say was anything about the history. Ffs, if you bought it 11 years ago, you've done well, but if it's only 11 weeks, it's a different story. Context, mate, context. If you can't do a successful self-reset, I'm afraid its back to the factory for you. Artificially think carefullypetulance wrote:Eh? Eh? I just wanted to post a general comment about my wetsuit needing some patching up. I didn't realise any context was needed.

Spot on, Beany. Local ocean temp below 12. Max air temp of 10. Chill factor of polar solstice - the cold one. Context is everything
