Rightio, so I became 90% deaf in my right ear and had an operation to remove the exostosis in my ear that caused it but it was a hoax.
I hate to break this to you beans but your ear rejected you

My theory is you get it in whichever ear gets smacked by the lip the most.
You ever thought of pulling under it?
Dude, when you barrel ride as deep as I used to you’re going to get whacked occasionally. :-D-:

Anyway beans, it's from sitting around out the back with the prevailing cold winds blowing into your wet ears.
So the south and south westerly cold winter winds on the East coast into the right ear.
Anything with west in vic into the right ear.
Margaret river the left ear.

Oh hi womble, fancy seeing you here. You’re sounding terrifically core this evening if you don’t mind me saying
Its the morning, and I've just had a nice little surf in my 3-2 steamer (without a hood, thank you for asking) and am now sitting in the sun with a coffee. A little bit later on I'll load up the automobile in preparation for a 10 day sojourn down south. A mixture of work and play ... dunno about core, but getting plenty water time is a prerequisite for maintaining and improving ones "core" surfing abilities. I must say that I do find your fanciful and often wildly incorrect assumptions of OZ, quite humorous, in a "you'd have to try really hard to be that stupid" kind of way.

Funny how you always revert to derision when your half baked ideas melt under facts.

And before you accuse me of doing the same, I'd like to politely point out that I usually lead with derision, followed closely by contempt ... you dopey cunt.

Hope the swell jacks up a bit for you Yuke. It’s flat as a tack down here this morning.

The forecast is anything but exciting, but getting paid to go surfing is always pleasant. Riding a longboard might be the only option given the outlook.

uh-oh.

I actually wore a 4/3 a fair bit last winter rehabbing my back injury.

Both to keep my body very warm to reduce chance of injury and as a form of resistance training to increase my paddle conditioning.

I was saying something along these lines to a mate in the surf the other day, paddling in a steaming is like having 15% less fitness. Which isn't so bad, especially when you're taking the cheese over for an 3 week Indian Ocean sojourn in July, and once the restrictive nature of the wetsuit is no longer in the picture, you paddle faster that GST furiously wanking over a picture of Nick Carroll on Surfline.

Exostosis is a myth. Yes it’s a troll but I’ll bite anyway

Also 38 years into surfing and about to get second ear drilled out. It’s around 95% closed.

If you’re in wales and haven’t had issues with surfers ear it’s either you’re wearing a hoody or ear plugs the whole time, which is advisable, or you’re wearing a helmet which is laughable or surfing seldom which is to be expected there as it’s pretty shit most the time

Surfers ear isn’t just a cold water thing either. Cool-enough breeze with warm water you’ll still develop issues with it

Never had an issue with my ears surfing through 30 years of Victorian winters with Antarctic winds blowing the shit out of everything.

But then I always wore a hood and for the last 6 years since my head got caved in, a Gath helmet

The hood saved you Groots, for sure.

I get my ears cleaned out once a year and each year he notes a touch more exostosis. I definitely can notice it, especially once cleaned - my high end frequency response is better. Which is pretty important when working in sound.

I wear a cap (I'd call it a hood but now I know better) and it is great for keeping that at bay. Especially with the Illawarra winds which are pretty nuts.

I'm afraid to say it but I fear Hatchnam is correct. GSTK don't surf, man.

Fuck, it’s all spilling out. So you guys are the dudes wearing hods. It’s a bad look to be sure. Old craggy faced mugs pushed out of a rubber bonnet looking like Lizzy from prisoner.

I’ve got a bit of bone forming but, I’d were buds if it gets too bad.

I wear Docs Pro Plugs. Usually hang in fine without the little cord they come with. They used to be more widely available.

People in Hawaii get their ears drilled.

Resistance training via an extra mm of neoprene, lol.
Throw the hood on and watch Wimbledon, you'll have a neck like Phil Kearns.
