Kuta/Legain Accommodation Recommendation?

Post by loco4olas » Sat Apr 17, 2010 9:39 pm

Off to g-Land next week and luckily for the past 15 years when going to Indo I've stayed at a mate's place who lived there (past tense-so not an option this time). Only in Bali a night or 2 on the way in and straight home on the way back. All the places I stayed at back in the 80's are shopping malls or discos etc.

Anyone have any recommendations for somewhere that's clean, central (Not on Legian Rd central) and not us$100/night (sh!t it used to be about 3000Rp/night-I'm amazed at quoted prices for simple places nowadays)?

I know this should be in travel forum-but gets more eyeballs here.

Thanks.

I've been staying with the same family for years, but one way my friends have found good andreasonable price accommodation is to rock into your local travel agent and get their book "Bali on any Budget" has a god range of hotels and a map that shows where they are.
Range from about $20 AUD a day up
Jaffa, I'm opinionated, and I'm sometimes right. So?

The Jiggeejig Banban hotel on poppies one is fantastic!!

At $5 US a night you get twin room, massive pool and continental brekky.
Its 7 mins from the beach and very close to town.

Its just off Poppies one, just ask one of the locals and they will point you in the right direction 8)

Masa Inn is the best place in Kuta. Bar none! I have turned some others on here to it. It's on Poppies Lane 1. You wont regret.

Masa Inn, your home in bali...

Get off the plan, jump in a taxi & find your own place...
All the other recommendations are spot on as well if you want to pre-organize something.

Be prepared for a shock if you haven't been in a while...

G-Land should be good in the mornings & evenings.

Have fun

Cheers

Nikko-that sounds good on an internet forum-but at 11pm at night after a 6 hour flight with boards-the last thing you feel like doing is jumping in one of the gouging airport taxis and haggling for rooms-and there are so many options now it's a sh!t fight, hence the query.

Turns out I can stay at my mate's place at Jimbaran, probably the last time-lease ends in September.

Changes? I first went to Bali in 72' (G-Land in 81') and been there uncountable times and go at least once a year-every time I go I'm shocked at the changes......

Thanks for the input.
