Quiksilver Wetsuit Repair Experiences?

Post by brenno05 » Thu Apr 15, 2010 3:35 pm

Hey i bought a top of the line Quiky Cell Wetsuit a couple of years ago and it has torn through the back rubber and a small area near the knee pad is completely worn down...it is obviously out of the 1 year warranty period but is there any point of me sending it back to get repaired?? is there a chance they will completely replace the suit?? i have the reciept and warranty card

just wondering where i stand

cheers

Mate I reckon you've got about of much chance as a one legged man in a bum kicking contest but it's probably worth a shot regardless..

Hey Brenno,
For sure worth checking with their service centre, I'm not positive but most of the wetties have a lifetime on seams and maybe rubber as well with all companies just give em a call and as long as the tear is caused by non normal wear and tear they will probably sort you out. The wetsuit companies in Oz are pretty good as it's a very competitive market here.

I got mine fixed a few months out of warranty. At worst, they'll give you a quote for how much it'll cost, and you might pay postage. Try it and see.

Report back.

I had a Quicksilver wetsuit where the seams started to go outside of the warranty period. I took the wetsuit to a shop that specialises in wetsuits, and they said they would send it back to Quicky to get a quote for the repair, and the job done if happy with the quote.

Quicksilver took a long time to get back to me and eventually when they did they admitted that they had lost the wetsuit. They refunded me the price of a new suit ($300 - Score!). I put $100 of my own money in and got a really great new suit that I'm still using now (double score!).

I say send it in for repairs, you may just end up as lucky as me :)

thanks for the feedback...i just bought a ebomb pro on my recent trip to the US for half the price as what the sell for here so im fine for a wetsuit but thought id give the old quiky cell a stab to see if i can get somthing back, when your forking out top dollar for a top of the line suit i would have thought they'd want to keep you happy and keep you in 'their' suit considering the competitiveness of the market i.e happy customer = repeat customer

i'll get in contact with the quiky repair guys and see what i can sort out

Heard two separate cases of Quikky wetsuit return FAILs last week, in both cases these guys did the same... each ended up buying a new suit in a DIFFERENT BRAND.

Also heard ( and saw ) the same thing with two O'Neill Psychofreak suits, both had expired within 3 months ( seams around the neck ). I wished them luck... the reps here are tosspots.

Mine has just been sent in. Only 4 months old and all the stitching around the chest zip has gone. My fingers are crossed.

Mine got back to the store today. Very quick!

The stitching has been repaired, but it looks like they showed a work experience how to do blanket stitch and let him loose on my wetty.

Stitched it up using that fluffy tan thread and a blunt nose sewing needle the kind that's meant for leather figured it'd work with rubber, 2 surfs and left it behind on the beach, same place as my long sleeved springy when went back for that next day it was gone, so didn't bother to go back next day another 100k this time
