Idi ots and mor ons in the surf. So confused !!!!!

Today I saw an argument in the surf.

After having dropped in on another surfer the dropper inner’turned to the insider and said “fark off u mo ron…you don’t even farkin’ live hear…so fark off”

The insider then retorted by calling him a farkin’ id iot and told him to told him to go a fark himself.

After witnessing this scene I was somewhat taken aback. My mind started playing tricks on me…mo ron , idi ot, mor on, idi ot….. What was the biggest call and can you in fact be an idiot ic mo ron ?.

Personally I would have preferred if the one bloke erred on the side politically correctness by calling the other bloke “intellectually challenged”

The American Heritage Dictionary defines "mo ron" as "a person regarded as very stupid," and "id iot" as "a foolish or stupid person."
The difference should be quite apparent at this point. An idiot actually is stupid, while a mo ron is just thought of as stupid.

The question arises: can a person be both? When you call someone an id iot, you are saying he is stupid. But this also conjures up the mor on part of things, which requires that you regard someone as very stupid. It appears that a person, having been called an id iot, has also inadvertently been called a mor on. And from this, it seems that it would be impossible to call someone an idi ot without calling that person a m oron.

But let's come in from the other angle here. If you call someone a moro n, you are just saying that he is regarded as very stupid. You are NOT saying that he is, in fact, stupid, but just that he is regarded as stupid. So, in calling a person a mor on, you can rest assured that you are not inadvertently calling him something which he may not be. From this, it appears that the answer to this question is yes, a person can be both, but only if the primary assumption is that he is an idi ot.

I beg to differ KK, I don't think your end theory is correct. By saying 'all idiots are morons', you're inferring that every stupid person is not just stupid, but other people also regard them as stupid. What about those that are stupid but no-one else recognises their stupidity? I would suggest that these people are idiots, but not morons. I would also think that these people are the most dangerous of all, as no-one is aware of their stupidity and thus do not adjust their own behaviour accordingly.

by the way, KK, i am delighted that someone has brought this topic to light, as there are far too many idi ots out there in the surf, with no clue of what they are doing, where they should be, etc.

perfect example is the other day that photo of one such "idi ot", right in the middle of the photo, of the realsurf report! he obviously wanted to get run over, or cause injury or harm to the bloke taking off.
