Hey guys,
Someone wants to buy a board off me but hes in Melbourne,
What are peoples experiences with Aus Post and surf boards? and any idea how much it will cost approx?
Its a 6"10 Short Board and its pretty light, Ill wrap it ect and have it in cardboard
Should I use Pack & Send, my past experiences with courier companies is you need an account to use them? Does anyone know the best way ?
Cheers

Never sent a board to melb but I know that Aus post won't do anything that big.
Pack and send never used them - but they would be pricey I'm guessing.
Couriers like 'couriers please' or fastway would help you. They work on a prepaid system. Just ring them up. Don't use TNT! The fuckers have broken so much of my shit over the years. (I used to be retail, and also buy and sell heaps of guitars).

theres a mob called surf cargo. i know they do goldy to syd. not sure if they go to melb as well. it costs me $45 from byron to syd,but my shaper organises it, i pay at this end. so say it would be similar cost? pridmore would know about em. try him for a number.

Aus Post won't do it. They're cnuts with the sizing.
My two boards that I got made in Sydney came down via TNT couriers, never had a scratch on them
I once sent a board to Mackay in QLD via Australian Air Express without any hassles.
Pack and Send I've never sent a surfboard through, but they may do it.
Just remember to bubble wrap the fcuk out of it and wrap decent cardboard around the nose, rails and tail

Re: Posting a board from Syd to Melbourne ???
pack n send do a good job, not real cheap though.....couriers please are also pretty good....Greyhound freight are good also but only up to boards of 2 mtrs...... SurfCargo are great but only from Goldy to Northern Beaches....
tips- always pad extremely well and use foam when you can not just bubble wrap and cardboard...
- write addresses very clearly and in big letters, some couriers like to make errors and stuff you around
- can save money by dropping at a depot and getting it collected from a depot.....
if the guy buying the boards wants insurance, get him to pay the extra, I havent had many probs but it does happen.....best of luck....

Bus freight is great and cost effective. http://www.greyhoundfreight.com.au/
They offer depot drop off/collection or you can add door to door either end.
have sent a few boards and received a few withg them and no probs.
Most transport companies need you too have an account and want you to be a frequent user....air road direct don't http://www.airroaddirect.com.au/ and they are good for sending big boards that busfreight might not carry and also to send to WA.
hope it helps

australian air express were good for us moving large fragile stuff.
