those bloody bali pix ...

Post by vb » Fri Jan 30, 2004 12:04 am

while I'm absolutely sure that Sydney has the best beaches in the world, I'm beginning to think Bali might have the upper hand in terms of wave quality, consistency judging by the daily fare on Realurf. Here's hoping for a bit of swell for Luke Steadman's Avalon venture on Sunday ... otherwise it looks like it's going to be a waterskiing contest.

Being a regular Bali traveller - and a follower of all the Bali surf report pages - I find it hard to believe that the current crop of pictures are just that CURRENT - Baliwaves today is quoting FLAT conditions - while SuRf TrAvEL online is showing these overhead glassy conditions "BOTH SIDES" of the Island.

Someone has got their hand on it!!!!

Roscoe - at the moment, Baliwaves's surf report is for the 28th, while BaliSurfReport's photos are from the 30th.
Baliwaves
28th / January / 2004
I borrowed one of my local mates fishing boat yesterday and went for a total surf check, and it was sad, no waves and no fish either... AIRPORT LEFT had 2 surfers out there riding 1 foot waves. DREAMLAND and BINGIN were both flat at 11.00am, and likewise at IMPOSSIBLES and PADANG PADANG. Wave height at ULUWATU was pretty sad and not quite making the head high range, more like 2ft with the odd nipple to shoulder high set wave

It never seems to go dead flat over there though! Ulu's always seems to have at least a waist high wave happening with the occasional sneaker set, and there's always the other side as well... I reckon I've checked baliwaves.com every day for the last two years and I don't remember seeing a day where it was dead flat, not like we get on the east coast here!

those bloody bali pics

Post by nubby » Tue Feb 03, 2004 5:16 pm

hahahahahahaha.......wait, let me get up off the floor to type this! so vb, your SURE sydneys got the best beaches IN THE WORLD but suspect bali has an EDGE over us in quality!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha,oh vb, are you a comedy writer? sydney has good beaches and spots, its my home and i love it, but BEST IN THE WORLD! thats a big call. and as far as bali goes, sydney on its best day ever doesnt even rate compared to a good day in indo. 1 day in bali when its pumping will get you more barrels than a WHOLE YEAR in sydney. if you think otherwise you obviously have never been to bali or anywhere in indo. remember that july 01' swell we got, well go to indo for a month anytime between may and september and you will probably score 2 of em! if you have any doubts, go watch basically any surf vid out now. see all that epic indo stuff, THAT IS WHAT ITS LIKE!!!!!!! not just for the pros, but for any average joe with a few grand, a 7'0 and the ability to trim!!!!!!honestly vb, get outta sydney.

'beaches', not waves. a good flamer always reads carefully...

Not that I agree with his actual opinion either! As if over-crowded-fucked-up-ocean-pollution-central Sydney has the nicest beaches in the world.... Bali's beaches are stinkin crap as well! I hated watching the Kuta beach shop owners bury all the rubbish at the high tide line at the end of the day :( The nicest beaches in the world are the ones that nobody knows about...

hey streetdaddy?.......if your flamin a flamer, maybe you should read even more carefully.....um....i actualy said "are you sure sydney has the best......wait for it......BEACHES and spots, i chucked in the spots cause good ol' vb is also bringing up the issue of wave quality. which means are their spots and/or swells better/more consistent than ours.on all counts sydney looses out to a monster list of candidates, which is why i lumped em both together. so remember streetdaddy.....READ CAREFULLY.[/b][/u]

Bali Pix

Post by roscoediboscoe » Sat Feb 07, 2004 4:48 pm

I agree with "cant_touch_this"

If we want to look at bali pix there's heaps of sites to do so - and check out what's happening in the "Land of the Gods"

After coming back from another "non-surf" at the local - I don't wanna see what I'm missing in Bali.

Does the administrator get a "kick back" from sUrF TraVeL OnlIne

Why doesn't the administartor of Real Surf use "Slim" Jim Bristows pics anymore??

If you cant handle it stop your whinging and dont look.
Those guys do a great job and I'm thankful that they share it with us so we dont have to go searching for the infomation.

Nothing like a bit of escapism, particularly when the weather is as diabolical as it is in Sydney today.

However,
I am sure that I have seen that photo of serangan with the guy walking out in the foreground at least twice this summer.......
