Afternoon gents... long time trawler first time caller. A quick North Shore update for all those whose backyards aren't currently being washed away by 30 foot waves.
Stayed up till 2 last night sitting on the veranda watching swell fill in. 40 year swells only come round every... well, ya know. Feeling more than seeing it. Watched sizeable chunk of backyard drop into Pacific Ocean. Drank a Blue Moon Lager while doing so. Woke up to seldom seen sight of horizon exploding. Rode bike down to Waimea. Overtook 2km of gridlock traffic. Coconut wireless relays reports of all sorts of mysto waves on sheltered coasts of Kauai and Maui. Sat on rocks at top of point and watched the bay close out. Watched four mid-west tourists almost swept to their deaths off aforementioned rocks. Saw TVC negotiate shorebreak of death with foot pointing sideways. Felt little if no inclination to paddle out as closeout sets appear every half hour. Sit with Parko and Andy and watch guys towing Outside Logs generously on upside of 30 foot. Andy getting ready for Eddie with two blood red 9'6"s, Joel using lame world title excuse for not surfing today. Waves get bigger. Tree washes into backyard. Bay still closing out toward dark. Eddie tomorrow.
- Pupes this morning... way smaller than it was this arvo

Great stuff NC. I can only imagine how down your bro must be and especially with what tomorrow could bring. I wish him a speedy recovery.

NW Coast Rev?
Steve / Don - can you run some models and see if I am going to get any of this NE energy in Northern Indo around the Molukas in about a week? Been there 3 times and failed in the past. With this much energy bouncing around the Pacific I don't see how I can loose this time.
Anything extending down towards the Phillippines?

Yeah, when Former World Champs / Pipemasters start breaking things in the surf I think it's time to just watch.

just watched asl gra murdoch's pushie report from waimea monday (
http://www.surfinglife.com.au/videos/as ... 7-december). about a minute in there's a shot of nick running down the beach in rainbow-coloured boardies and with a bright yellow board. take a look, everyone! did you get any good ones, nick? is that your board? and are they your boardies? or you came unprepared and had to borrow stuff? woo, great to read your report from the north shore! encounter with jock sutherland outside foodland very funny and touching!
