Just saw that . The warnings are out for Norfolk and Lord Howe. Sooner or later there will be one that gets our east coast courtesy of the shaky isles. Thanks again Roy

Just been downgraded to a maritime warning. Tides will be nutty tomorrow. As someone else said, we are overdue for a big one in Sydney. At least once in the past 1000 years, North Head was underwater. That event created the Narrabeen Lakes (tampon / condom swamp pit)

Most Tsunamis are 20cm high, problem is when they travel at 500 miles per hour they reach 100 feet inshore pretty quickly. 8)

Common Longinus, let's not get bogged down in scientific correctness! We're joking about SUP's. Get with the program!

Think you're 500mp/h is probably on the high side for an average travel speed, as given an exceptional large wave length you'd be using a shallow water wave equation, rather than a deep water equation. Agreed though that a 20cm Tsunami could do some coastal damage.

so what time was it supposed to hit?
saw the police rescue squad watching at one beach waiting, i figure they know more than most on whats happening. so would anybody in authority have an estimated time of arrival?
or are we supposed to keep our tsunami suits on everywhere we go just in case one is about to arrive withing the next 6 - 24 hours?

a family pulled up to watch and wait, and it was excruciatingly boring waiting, so i called out "here it comes" and they quickly turned around and braced and looked out to sea.
then i called out, oops sorry, false alarm :D

From a good friend and Shaper you would ALL know.... Quote

I just checked palmy with my car lights and the surge has hit like crazy, not high waves but water has gone completely over the golf course. It's hit late as a second wave which is why they down graded it maybe. check the news again. There are fish and whate seems to be either fairy penguins or drowned bandicoots. I didn;t want to get out of the car. It's eroding too!

And....

yeah, cops are blocking the street from barrenjoey house, so no-one can drive there now. maybe it's all finished anyway, but it seems to actually have come from the other side??? maybe it surged up the hawkesbury and flowed back out? it's a huge triangular shape so maybe that's it. Sea weed everywhere.

He don't lie....
