SURFING SUSTENANCE

Post by Trev » Thu Jul 02, 2009 4:44 pm

What do you eat before you head out in the surf.
If I'm going early I make a mug of instant coffee for drinking on the way to the beach (only get about half drunk by the time I'm there)
And a banana, or a small handfull of roasted almonds or possibly a slice of wholegrain bread.
Beanpole
You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Pre early - usually nothing, just straight out there.
Occassionally a piece of choccy - roast almond dairy milk or a chocolate Monte (old hangover habit). Sometimes a piece of fruit on the way out the door.

Post surf - the full works when possible: Eggs, bacon, fried tomato, sausages, fried onion, toast, espresso coffee, more toast, more coffee etc.. till full.

It is strange how Macdonalds tries to balance their nutrition free burgers with an unpleasant tasting friggin pickle. F-ck the pickle ! I hate those bloody things.

the pickle is in there to provide a vegetable addition so the burger is not classes as confectionary because ... for a start the bun is made with 12% added cane sugar in the recipe where as a regular loaf of bread or bread roll normally has 0% to 1% added cane sugar ... also the sauce contains a lot of sugar and there is a sugar derivative added in the meat processing to maintain moistness ... so all this sugar means that the pickle needs to be added so it is not categorised as a a f'king lolly ...

the high sugar content in the buns provides the extreme softness and most importantly a long shelf life because there are only 3 (very large) bakeries in Australia making their buns and they are shipped around all over the place and in some cases interstate in the back of a truck ... many stores don't get a delivery of buns fresh daily so you are often eating two (or more) day old buns kept "fresh" by sugar ... :!:
I'm not lovin' it ...

enjoy your after surf snack everyone ...

Farkn classic!

Although these days it's about a litre of water and two pieces of toast.

Followed up with fried eggs when I get home and a strong espresso.

Not far off my pre-surf ritual.

Don't feel the need to fuel up beforehand, especially for an early, but I do prefer to clear the drains before going out. Hate getting a wetsuit on and then working out I have to bog off.

Cup of tea is sufficient.
