Its "different" (pics)

Post by Butts » Mon May 04, 2009 10:20 pm

Sometimes you get time to play, shoot something a "different" way.
So here is my attempt at "slow motion" shutter shots, varying from 1/80th down to 1/10th of a second.
Hand held, except the ones from the water :P
Not many, as not a lot actually turn out

No 7 didn't work, but I thought it sort of has something  But then thats me.
No 9 is octupus head himself.

Wow Butts! 8)

Very nice shots, numbers 1,4 and 8!! Absolutely love 8.

They all have a smooth steely look and feel to them! Will have to try and have a go myself though I doubt any will turn out like this

Did I say i love 8 (except the horizons off ;) )8) :D

Nice to have you back posting pics Butts!.

No 1 doesn't show up for me. Hey, that's funny, it does show up in 'review' mode. Weird! Edit - now it's working fine!?

2 3 and 4 the light seems to fit with the change of shutter speed. Very interesting.

5 and 6 sublime, real back to the womb feel.

7, I wish I hadn't taken that last trip!

8 looks like a painting.

9 Octopus head indeed! :D

Thanks mate, beautiful.

I always like shots that are takin a little bit different, these look good mate, they have a very cold, grey steel kina feel to me...good shittte as usual Butts...I reckon a coloured board in the dull grey shades would be a good contrast...??? 8)

I’ll be harsher than the poofs above :D not bad iB, but not exactly earth shattering either - let’s say a glimmer of hope... don’t give up the day job just yet.

Will catch up soon I hope.

Like what your trying Butts and I reckon you'll soon nail some A+ shots with the slower shutter speed. I can appreciate how it's a technically difficult shot to capture perfectly. Those in-the-barrel shots are extremely hard to capture perfectly without a flash (there's an idea  ) but geez you've done well.

Looking forward to your next set of shots with similar 'settings' 8)

Dont want to sound like a dick but imo it just looks as if someone was taking photos with a cheap under water cam and they all came out blurry.

Rev, fair enough, and definately not a dick! They're not the style for everyone, but you may notice (except for #7) the subject is focused/still whilst the rest is in motion.
Its just a technique, you can get some cool results. 8)
Give it a go, just remember to hover around 1/10-1/30th for the best results.

RBP, if ONLY I had a flash attachment for my housing.
Must admit it was a bit of fun trying, even though you do get very depressed when your
looking at the results on the "big" screen.

gold! its hard to say how they would have looked with more light, but for some reason the slow shutter speed seems to complement the grey...or does the grey compliment the slow shutter speed
