Good contest, not great, though the surf was really good almost throughout --/quote]

What do you mean by that little "dammed with faint praise" comment?
I thought it was a fantastic conny with the waves really allowing the cream to rise to the top.
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes

Actually Fong, the water temp was pretty good this year. I surfed in a flatlocked 3/2 steamer and even that was a little too much. A springy was fine as long as the winds weren't too strong.

Pretty simple at our end really. Swellnet partnered up with Tracks quite some time ago (almost 12 months). There are many reasons why we've joined forces, but this year's Rip Curl Pro was a good example - Swellnet and Tracks were both 'Media Partners' for the event (Swellnet online, Tracks print). This was the seventh consecutive year for Swellnet, and I'm pretty sure Tracks has been there since the start (37 years).

One component of the media partnership was to produce the daily "Fingers In The Bowl" series, so we pooled our resources together - Tracks provided the presenters, who had good relationships with a lot of the Top 45 (making it easier to source interviews and tee up day trips), and Swellnet provided all of the tech side of things, including full video recording, editing and production, plus online services. This made the entire project a lot more cost effective, so we rented out a big house and shared a lot of the associated expenses in being on site for two weeks.

As for other sites/mags - Coastalwatch have a partnership with ASL. Coastalwatch also own Surfing World. I'm not aware of any other website/magazine partnerships.
