as usual there is no video. occasional audio. one thing you can ALWAYS rely on with webcast of surf events is the webcast failing. they are trying to stream a flash video not wmv. send them repeated messages about how STUPID they are...i do

I couldn't get anything - then downloaded a windows media plugin for firefox & still can't get anything. I reckon the Quiksilver webcast was better as I had no connection issues. If this is widespread Rip Curl will have effectively squandered millions of eyeballs in front of their brand today.....

Final heat for today and still nothing.

Ringmaster - What are you using IE7?, IE8?, Safari or Firefox etc.

Chong - Have to agree, Very unproffessional. Especially with today's technology. I'm sure Rip Curl could afford a half decent Techy to get a live feed going, Notice it is also Sponsored by Bigpond. One would think they would have there sh*t together.

I watched a black screen, sometimes with sound, sometimes without, for most of the afternoon. It seemed to come good about 4 minutes into the final heat for the day... of course, by then the light was fading...

No luck for me on a Mac. I tried the software install and nothing. Neither on Safari or Firefox.

What happened to the Viviedus (spelling?) software Rip Curl ran for a few years? I watched Reunion and two Bells contests full screen with very few hitches. Why change what's working Rip Curl? Why??$

Anyone found heat replays anywhere :?:

I know the asp hosts them, but I'm not sure if they do it with the ripcurl events :?
The events the asp has done it for are the quicky ones, like;
http://aspworldtour.edgeboss.net/downlo ... _r3_h1.flv
http://aspworldtour.edgeboss.net/downlo ... D2_HT1.flv
http://aspworldtour.edgeboss.net/downlo ... 1_high.flv

Anyway I hate silverlight (never used it and it's taken them 2 years to get something for linux users) or what ever they are using and refuse to give them any more time, it's just amazing the advertising you can't get easily
If it's well engineered it's beautiful .

I am not sure about now, but the available infrastructure at Bells traditionally has been the bottleneck for webcasting. I am pretty sure there's still no ADSL2+ capable line within cooee so all those (us) users are trying to suck the feed out of a paired or double paired 3G wireless pipe. The data rate under those cirumstances is far from rock solid either. Snapper has a good high-grade connection that Coastalwatch put in, and I'm pretty sure that's what they use for the webcast.

Well... there's your problem right there. ;)

Actually, the "sponsorship" consists of splashing their logo all over it in return for giving overcharged BP customers on outrageous 2 year contracts unmetered content from the RCP.

Munch... it's just embeded flash (.flv) same as YouTube... I would have thought that'd be OK? What distro are you running on?

Frustrating with a capital F.

I did see a bit of the Dane Reynolds/Owen Wright heat and after seeing quite a bit of Owen surfing around here I'm tipping him to ring the Bell as a wildcard.
History is with him and he is not intimidated by any opponent.
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes

No heat by heat video replays - just a highlight package it seems. Totally unforgiveable.

Still nothing. Such a joke. Stephanie is blitzing as I type this. An 8.76 and a 9.0. But do you think we can watch. It's pathetic. Anyone here know anyone at Rip Curl?
