When you click on a forum link (rss/forum) it takes you to the last post, not the first.
If it's well engineered it's beautiful .

Interesting that the new post page pops right up, but the regular post page takes 32 seconds for me... so, clearly not the ad code stuffing things up then.

We did the database thing and found and blocked a suspicious IP address, but otherwise our efforts seem to have produced not much. Well, apart from an improvement to the post window (I bet it's cached).

Bottom line: we're scratching our heads and raising a ticket with the ISP.

Not sure, but I think our next option might be to nuke the script and re-install (horrible time consuming job I hope we can avoid!!!)

Haven't stopped trying, but it is getting late, so yours truly might have to put the cudgels down for the evening...

Again, thanks for the patience and thoughts!

Ah! Just before the midnight hour, mighty Ross, our tech guru has once again ridden to the rescue and pulled your flailing webmaster from the swamp with a single bound. We're getting good speed at this hour, so fingers crossed that come tomorrow, it'll still be going along at the same clip...

Again, thanks for all the feedback and thoughts and advice!

Hi Don,forums are now flying along again(good stuff),but you've still got this message when you click on"Forums" on the front page.
Sorry folks.

We're trying to fix the problem that has made the forums so slow over the last couple weeks.

All the data is safe and we hope to be back online around 1000pm Weds 11 Feb 2009 - all being well!

Hi all,

Fixed that placeholder page. It was late and I forgot I'd left that in place.

re: request to get links to go to first post rather than latest post, I'm not sure how to do this in a way that still lets the user choose which option suits them. If any of you have come across a site that does this, can you send me a link?

back to it...

I just want to bring to your attention that Sydney was four to six feet yesterday -- the SAME DAY the forums started running again

Economic crisis
Queensland flooded
South Aus burning
NSW frying one week ..winter the next
Fuse box at our house keeps on playing up
Just took 3 days to get rid of a really crappy virus on comp
Broke someones arm fighting yesterday

Any hippies out there care to explain ?
