I used to just throw them out. A tendency that has been noted in my work habits since.

Before or after completion?

Apparently the La-5 was one of the better ones. Still got shot down lots. Those Fw 190s must have been hard to beat. The Mighty Sunbird wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:37 pmThose Soviet warplanes were pretty shit, weren’t they?
Soviet pilots were generally satisfied with the La-5. "That was an excellent fighter with two cannons and a powerful air-cooled engine", recalled pilot Viktor M. Sinaisky. "The first La-5s from the Tbilisi factory were slightly inferior, while the last ones from the Gorki plant, which came to us from Ivanovo, were perfect. At first we received regular La-5s, but then we got new ones containing the ASh-82FN engine with direct injection of fuel into the cylinders. It was perfected and had better maneuverability, acceleration, speed and climb rate compared to the early variants. Everyone was in love with the La-5. It was easy to maintain, too."
Nevertheless, La-5 losses were high, the highest of all fighters in service in USSR, excepting those of the Yak-1.

I sit on my hands and let him work away until he blows his top over a fiddly little bit and then I make my move and take over. The Mighty Sunbird wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:39 pmHope you’re letting the young fella have a go. I reckon I got to stick about one piece on the first one my dad got me lol

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just realised you were talking about throwing out the little fiddly bits and not the whole kit. Will keep it in mind when working on the engine.

Send me to aGulag for re education?
Nice conditions today. A bit closely outy and mainly lefts but I got one stray right peak that hit the bank then kept holding across the shallow inside bank. I kept gunning it and the board really sped up through the hollow sections till it finally shutdown. Stoked.

….this was pushing off the wall not diving in.
...running out of breath underwater hasn’t been an issue. Not too bad for a 62 y/o who surfs irregularly.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Bondi, offshore and not bearing the brunt of the NE swell

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Had a fun surf this morning. Tides getting too low for that bank now but it looks like there’s still a few options further down. Great to get some sunshine. Water was freezing.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Manly after lunch, clean conditions but swell seemed to drop off pretty quickly.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Holy fcuk. NC's prediction was on the money down here.
I was working all day at the 'Gong uni with a two hour gap around 10.30. Sped down to that place that rhymes with pretty, and my god.
It was 6ft+ dredging lefts, throwing out as wide as they were high on the lower tide... Clean as you could ask for but real fcuking heavy! I paddled out, with a horrible feeling of the knowledge that I only had a very small window and I could not get injured. Not the best mental state for the size and intensity of the wave!
Didn't get much, but scored one medium size stoinker that I was stoked with. Man, it was PUMPING. I've never surfed there before so I would have loved to spend more time casing the lineup. epic.

Late second go out after checking it out again.A bit crowded but got a couple. Did an impromptu Alex Knost cheater five when my foot slipped.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
It was pretty much pumping here yesterday. Pretty solid brown barrels at the north end and endless stream of waves at the point. The crowd where mainly local board riders from each club. The conversations were mainly about potentially using a board with a few additional inches. It was a no bullshit “my local is pumping” attitude and surfing.
Today it’s nice rollers and about 2/3ft. A very different crew pulling twins and others things out today. Looks of beards and funny hats.
