Cranky look at the positives. You’ll be able to brush up on aspects of the Communist Manifesto.

But remember, we live in the time after the fall of utopia and the bloody death of utopianism. Ours is the age of disillusionment, of the strange combination of immense technical possibilities with social hopelessness. One hundred and fifty years on from the Communist Manifesto, the spectre that haunts the collective imagination of Europe and of the world is not the looming prospect of "communism" but the haunting nightmare memory of the terrible experience of "communism", that is Stalinism, in practice.

And Corona virus, of course.
That's pretty deep, thud. You're more than just a pretty face.

Might be seeing the death of Capitalism as we speak. We live in a post modern age that's a fight between democracy and Capitalism. Cracks me up when the Right bang on about Socialism and Communism.

Definite covid impact on crowds today around here.
Combined with the surf being good on the Goldy, no one coming down from up that way either.

So much surfing with no rubber protection and I’ve given myself costochondritis on the lower ribs.
Gonna have to push through with all the waves and the lack of crowds though.

Started off very average and then within 45 mins started to pump as the tide drained out.

Better than I got. But my surfing was just so bad. Could have been perfection I would have blundered. Such is life.

I think I've changed my mind about pushing through.
Fcuk my rib is painful. It's hard to breathe.

I've gone full anti-inflamm on it - ice, nurofen, anti-inflam gel.
Will have to rest it at least tomorrow, but it's hard to sit out when the waves are good.
Then I'll have to wear a vest in the bathwater that's currently on the coast up here.

Hey, buddy, a mate* with diabetes used to have a wettie “kidney belt” he’d wear under a steamer. Moved to warmer climate years ago. South coast NSW. Not that warm in winter so wouldn’t surprise if he still uses it. Of course, without hiding it, you’d look like a real dick, but who fcuken cares?

I had a patch of wetsuit neoprene sewn into the front of a few of my rashies which stopped problems I was having with the lower part of my sternum.

Groan. After looking at footage of The Gold Coast I went for a paddle at Bondi. If anyone has watched some of the recent footage of Batu Bulu it was a pretty good facsimile. Crazy rip....drifted through the pack heading south. Not looking as attractive on the left as I had hoped. Quickly began to drift out to sea so I thought I'd paddle with it. The rip swung around 180 degrees and shot me right back past the crowd and right next to where I paddled out originally. That was the high point.

Thanks swiv.
Someone suggested heat/ice alternates and it helped a bit.
I was surprised how good heat feels as it’s an inflammatory condition.
I ended up going back out at a point break with only one other guy out.

Got so many good ones but man I was hurting afterward.
Couldn’t help myself.
I’m definitely having a day off tomorrow.
Back on the ice/heat regime for now.
