The late great BBC Wales surf website you mean? Sadly no longer with us. Man, now that was an online surf forum
They should all join Realsurf.
I can add a Wales section.
I wouldn't be the only gay in the village then though Trev

God knows how the Welsh surfer conducts himself when gathered en masse.

A surface loses heat through conduction, evaporation, convection, and radiation.[1] The rate of convection depends on both the difference in temperature between the surface and the fluid surrounding it and the velocity of that fluid with respect to the surface. As convection from a warm surface heats the air around it, an insulating boundary layer of warm air forms against the surface. Moving air disrupts this boundary layer, or epiclimate, allowing for cooler air to replace the warm air against the surface. The faster the wind speed, the more readily the surface cools.

Yes yes, but you're covered in neoprene of the same thickness whether you have sealed or unsealed seams. Where flatlock and overlock fall down in cold water is that the insulating layer of water is compromised by ingress at the seams as well as ankles, neck and wrists, so you get colder much quicker. When it's knocking on for body temperature whether your seams are sealed is neither here nor there
Incorrect.

fccck me you weak cnut, you are surfing in Lennox Head not Iceland. Toughen the fcck up.

Welsh surfing forum. Lol. Full of discussions about gath hats and webbed finger paddle gloves I bet
There was certainly an awful lot of discussion about perfecting your pop up and the best minimal for a beginner
Sounds like (new to) Torquay surfers.

just stay focussed on your own game Loof.

Carroll is out there getting compliments from Simon Anderson and what are you doing?

Probably jerking off in some cubicle somewhere, go surfing mate and stop worrying about everyone else.

Actually that reminds me of a compliment I got from Matt Hoy.
I was 16 and travelling up the East coast from Victoria for the first time.
Didn't take a wetty and it was September. All the Newy crew were in steamers and complaining about the cold. I think someone said it was 16deg in the water.
Hoyo said something like 'how's this kid in boardies?'.

Well maybe it wasn't a compliment. But it ties in nicely.

wow, just had a look at wetsuit prices.

600-700 for a rip curl steamer.

Insane, anyone paying that?
Great suit for a season before they fall apart.

Just got myself an Xcel 2mm comp steamer for $230. Got a real nice internal lining. So far feels warm, light and flexible.

Check out Hyperide in NZ Steve.
Got as similar Xcell...might have got it a little cheaper off Surfstitch before it got cold I think. Really like it so far. Front zip is good. Yeah, I like the fleecy interior fabric.

Had a good week so took the day and went surfing, 2 solid sessions. No probs with the cold, couldnt tell you what my seams were.

So glad you’re here toots.

Was onshore this morning in s/w WA so I didn’t bother surfing but the wind started dropping by mid morning so decided to go down to the comp and have a look . What a well oiled machine that thing is. It’s like auto pilot for most of the crew. The camera men looked bored as fcuk most of the time (and they are).
Not knowing the layout or parking set up we ended up accessing the comp from the beach. After watching for a bit I wanted some altitude for a better view so went to access the stairs. I was throwing my thongs on at the base of the stairs and this dude asked me for ID. I said “what? I’m just going up the stairs.”
“I’m sorry sir, you don’t have access to these stairs”. Turns out I was trying to walk up the main athlete stair where Rosy hangs out to do interviews and such. I thought I might have heard the dude mumble ‘you fcuking kook’ under his breath, not sure. He kindly pointed me to the stair I was allowed to use so I thanked him and proceeded to said stair, stubbing my toe on a concealed chunk of sand coloured limestone on the way. Cool as shit so far duck. Beware Margaret river beach with it’s fcuking jagged chunks of barely concealed limestone millimetres under the sand.
Anyway the swell lifted and the wind held off till lunchtime.
The one thing that stood out from the copy repeat energy of the comp was how fcuking good the pros really are. They are so fcuking fast in real life it’s gobsmacking. The webby view just slows shit down somehow, as has been noted by a few players here. Slaters beautiful rooster tail hack today looked every bit as good as the score he landed. It still feels like a circus though, well oiled and high functioning.
Left around lunchtime as the southerly started to ruffle up and went to Leeuwin estate for mrs duck’s birthday lunch. (The rugby chick wasn’t there Boo but we did well anyway).

I don't see much life on the Byron Buoy. Please don't let it be 2-3ft again.

I thought the Byron Buoy was useless as an indicator of on the beach swell conditions

They just upgraded it, it has sealed seams now.

No, thats Magic Seaweed.

They've given Lennox head 5 stars this morning. teehee.

shouldn't laugh, there are far too many clueless euro kooks now driving down because of that.

yes, tracking S swells.

exactly what I was doing.

and, once again the buoy reading was an unreliable proxy.
