Usual ritual body bash with the brother at main beach Southport. Nice warm water and a lot of hard work considering the small swell. Shook the cobwebs out.

Fcuking sunburnt around the eyes today. Heaps of sunscreen. Pleasant but Definitely not worth the burn.
Is it ever worth it?
Realistically no I guess....but if it's a cyclone swell up north it's a bit more worthy than crappy junk.

Soon as it's pumping here all the cardio guys with their HRM's and fit bits seem to go missing, I guess keeping the BPM down is a big comittment.
I shake my head for the human race when I see people wearing fitbits etc. A professional triathlete or whatever might have an excuse but joe blow? Fkukk off and die

I'm seeing more guys doing a pre surf paddling exercise where they swing their arms around like windmills. The stretching is bad enough but can't they just jump in and paddle?

Great when you watch them do the full routine with stretches, body rotations, arms waving and you look at the surf and it's one massive pounding close out.

Quite sure one of the ladies in the water yesterday was wearing an Apple watch.

Fitbits etc provide the same illusion of competence to the amateur runner as multiboard quivers and a-finset-for-every-occasion do for the low intermediate surfer

I know a middle-aged woman who was unfit and fat and has now run 10 marathons. She says it was because she started wearing a stupid fitbit. It does work for some people in her situation who don't exercise at all and then just, out of curiosity, want to watch their fitbit move and then get a bit hooked.

i got one for my daughter's running. i mostly wear it as i train along side her, and when she's sweaty she hates wearing it.

HRM is good, it's nice to run to the point when feel like dying then look at your wrist and learn that is exactly what is happening. (ran a 400m against her last week and got up into the mid 190's) haha.

the VO2 max is pretty useful for working out recovery too.

Ha! First attempt since high school and i did 1:09 something.

Nearly vomited. In fact if i had anything in my stomach i would have. Only just beat my daughter too.

In other news, if i was an 11 year old girl, i would have qualified for state titles.

Shithouse. Still cant duckdive a board or do a pushup on it. Any bump or knock on it is still agony too.

But i can run like a rocket. But only barefoot. No shoes.

Most annoying injury ever. Caught 3 waves in Gita and that was it. Duckdiving 6 inches deep in that juice was calamitous.
