Maroubra clean waist to chest high peelers. The right had a lump in it's throat but the left was reeling off like a mini pointbreak all the way to the sand.

Surfed the 6’10 rabbidge with the new 2+1 set up. Very drivey and turns felt super crisp . Can’t wait to get it into some solid overhead juice with the new fin set up.

Got there in record time. 20 mins only on a clear run. Quicker than what it would take from Bondi. Yay southern inner-Westside !!

The day is but young, plenty of time for something to happen.

Nice. Nothing like that over this side. Maybe waist-high at best. Super slow.

Lol southern inner-westside.

Maroubra maximises ENE swells and that hint of south was wedging a shave more size onto the left bank. Swell height at the NBs would’ve been same but this just came down to a perfectly sculpted sandbank thanks to the runout from urban stormwater drain.

Looked crap about an hour ago. Hardly breaking. Infrequent sets. Crowded. Maybe waist high in the biggest sets. More like knee high.

You got there too late. Sucked in.

SN report

“Dawn Report: Lovely conditions this morning with offshore winds, and a peaky mix of swells pushing the 2ft mark at most beachbreaks. There's not a lot of strength in the swell, but it's certainly worth a quick fitness paddle. Tune in to the updated photo report around 8am.”

A quick fitness paddle?

Nick’s weekend so far:

1. No surfing
2. Sat morning, mini Gold run through with the open squad: Station Beach (Pittwater side Palm Beach) to Newport ski, Newport/Avalon/Newport board, Newport/MV/Newport run. Ski 12k, board 6k, run 6k. Fcuking horrible run.
Lot of downwind bumps on the ski and also on the board coming back from Avalon
3. Sunday morning, ski with the nth bches masters squad, Station Beach straight up the Hawkesbury for 6k (upwind) then back (downwind). Tedious going up but good technical stuff, super playful coming back with bumps. SW change hit crossing Pittwater and nearly blew us out to sea. Fun!

All up in the downwind probs caught 100-120 waves

Fcuken fitness paddle, jesus.

I've discovered that there's a certain point of the runout tide where the river near me forms standing waves for about 40 minutes.

Had a lot of fun playing on them, but made me realise that I need to get a proper slsa ski with more rocker.

Yeah I am not a fan of those ocean skis, they might be lighter and with lower seats for the “cyclist” paddler but a spec ski is way better for classic short runs.

I thought it would be better for the river, but it's not.
Even the wind chop and boat wakes expose that it has no affinity with waves, no feel for the run or the curve at all.
And the light weight and extra buoyancy is a hindrance in the ocean.

DY mid-arvo. Odd shoulder high one and a bit bumpy. But only a couple of blokes out. I’ll take it. Crowds were out of control at some other places.

Swellnets report this morning was interesting.

“Looking good across those south swell magnets this morning with fairly consistent head-high sets and plenty of heads. Lots of bad drop ins so always check your inside before taking off and play nice out there. It has been a long time between waves but that's no excuse to abandon all manners.”

Nah, think he was talking about Curly. But in reality, the whole Northern Beaches is like Lord of the Flies.

Actually managed to snare a couple this arvo. Civilised at Bondi. Only person who dropped in on me paddled up and apologised.
