Is this epic east coast event going to stretch out to two weeks?

If so I'm going to scoot up for the tail end when surfed out / rec leave used up / boards snapped / starts to set in reducing the crowds.

Uh oh. I have to attend a wife's relatives function in the Upper Hunter Valley round about then. This could be a recreation of another whole east coast event where I got stuck in The Blue Mountains. They had a picture of Sonny Aberton at Clovely Bommie on the cover of Surfing Life.

You can thank me later.

Actually going to hit Newcastle for a night so might chuck the board in. This is in two weeks though. I'd forgotten how far from the coast the venue is. Thought we might be able to duck up to Forster.

Glass clean punchy Wollongong beach break with head high set. Hollow and breaking hard for it’s size.

Absolute opposite at northern end of Illawarra this am. Tide too high, fat and inconsequential.

i checked one spot which matched your description and spot i ended up surfing was no more than 2km away as the bird flies and was peaky, clean and some barrels. granted i surfed the low tide, but by all reports it was better on high.

That ain't gunna happen Pinhead.

Spent the weekend a couple point further south surfing my brains out.

There are a lot of hungry surfers and a helluva lot of pent up capacity before people start getting surfed out.

I'd say it would take a month straight of good waves, not a week.

People are just getting off the starting blocks.

SP? If so, I checked their just after 7.30 this morning. It was doing the backwash thing. Some lefts still coming through, but looked like it was pinching off quick and flubbery.

I kinda had the opposite problem once the tide started running out. Every wave was pitching top to bottom, onto a waist deep sandbank. couple of cover ups I came out of, but got rolled good on a few also. would’ve been a great boog wave.

Wishful thinking. Is there going to be waves next week though?

Next week a large high looks set to direct a pretty much straight E'ly onshore flow over NENSW/SEQLD.....exactly the patten which has bedevilled us all summer/autumn.

Today and tomorrow will be the cleanest days.

it's about 6ft on the sets right now.....glassy/lumpy....very average due to no sand bank. The odd one standing up on the depth contour. 5/10.

Wellity wellity wellity. It IS pristine this morning. Flawless 3-4’ lines from the ENE with a light offshore breeze.
