yeah, but i've got some real purty ones too Iggs.
Not as purty as that new singly you've got coming.
Single fin quiver? You're on that hipster train cowboy.

It'll be singley number 4. I dig the feel of them because it strips surfing back to basics and your timing has to be spot on for them to work. For me, when surfing single fins everything feels more deliberate and accurate (less noise). Plus I love the trim line.

Why the roll eyes. I regret not surfing them when I lived in qld. Countless point waves wasted on thrusters.

Just stirring mate.
I got my first quiver of single fins in the early 90's living at Noosa, shaped by Thornton Fallander. That was revelatory. Boiling Pot at 6-8ft on a single fin, when most were riding Slater-style potato chips.
Rode singles exclusively at various times well before the hipster movement, including this really nice single flyer pin tail shaped by Bill Cilia.
Those days are behind me now.....I get the single fin feeling with multi-fin acceleration and hold from bonzers. And quads are so much faster in most surf.
But that single fin feeling is righteous, no doubt.

The penny dropped late for me. Way late. A few years ago at Bells Beach in nearly double overhead surf, walled for 200 metres. A full lightbulb moment.steve shearer wrote:I got my first quiver of single fins in the early 90's living at Noosa, shaped by Thornton Fallander. That was revelatory. Surfed one of the Juc reefs. One guy out when I paddled out, looked angry so I gave him plenty of room. Just us for a while, long waits between sets, but all good.
Then a few more paddles out straight to the inside and this guy just drops in first wave on em saying 'fuck off'. I thought fair enough, but then he continued to paddle straight passed this guy every time or drop in on him. I thought once should have been enough, oh well, gave me a chuckle.
Fuck me, I forgot how inconsistent vicco waves can be. Just waitin and waitin. Was fun though.

Steps. Went out on the low. Took a few waves to get used to surfing in thick rubber again.

Surfed Cloudbreak again on Monday. Not my first choice. Managed to catch a couple of uneventful peaks before scoring a chattering screamer right through. Snapped the rental board on the next wave. That was an expensive surf.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
No, just gunned it flat out on my backhand. Powerful, fast wave.
My son got a few. Guy on the boat got a double just as we were trying to drag him out of the surf so we could leave. That would have definitely been the best wave he had ever caught judging by his ability.
Just about every pro was in the water.
