Waited patiently 10 min for my first wave, dude on mal after just getting a wave paddles far out to my outside. Drops in on me, bails board and snaps the nose off mine. Obliviously asks me what happened to my board when he saw it.

well a bit of both, the peak is a reef that tails off into beachies, plus I sorta tend to roam off that into different lil sandbanks

I let him know but didn't push it any further. Thought there was nothing to gain.

Must hit Newport again one day. How big does it need to be for the peak to start working?

I’ve only surfed Newport once, about twelve years ago. The peak at 6-8 foot. Was impressed with it. Really steep stretching take off and great face to cutdown/back on.

ahh the peak is pretty tidal, at low tide it'll happily break at 3', the bigger it gets the further out it breaks along the rock line. High tide shuts it down mostly. It's sandbank dependent so if the sand sets up badly, it can be shit even when it's breaking

oh no! everyone's welcome out the peak. just v hard to get waves when it's OK. most shitty days now it is the habitat of shearer's favourite type of surfer. 35-50yo recently started or taking it back up again. boy do they get bemused when it suddenly improves and out come all the crew. a lot of slightly woebegone faces, "what happened, why aren't I catching any more waves??"

It doesn’t start breaking til it’s three foot. Which immediately disqualifies you.

Whale Bay for a few hours in the middle of the day. Rode my 5-11 quartet home made - was hard to get my back foot on the board after riding an 8-1 the last 3 weeks. However despite my kooky footing I managed a few critical drops on the surge
The inside section from the surge rock was pretty darn fun - just 5 on it. Head high and reeling like a left hand noosa nationals
got better as the hugetide dropped.
Looking forward to the pulse tomorrow evening next few days of very light wind and 2.5m @ 15 seconds
Had the wave of my life at Outside Indicators. Love that stretch of points.

Head high plus sets mid morning as the incoming full moon tide added some push, light side-off breeze, not crowded. Only got a few, pulled back on some when I should have gone.

Waiting for the tide to drop, the wind is aleady offshore

First surf in a month, it can only get better.

Excellent afternoon surf, fcuk all surfers, offshore, regular overhead sets. Hollow and fast as the tide dropped, hit the reef hard a few times.

No more surf reports from me is a good idea I think.
