Well to start, golf courses and tennis courts are private "stadiums", right?
I thought Mt Panorama was a racing circuit, but I see what you mean, it's a public road. No doubt a giant ball-ache if you live there.
The Tour De France runs through a place for one day....it is open to the public to view for free and presumably if you want to ride a bike anywhere else you can.
I guess I don't see that as analogous to taking Pipe, or Trestles or wherever and excluding the public for a week.
Pipe is Pipe, you just can't substitute that.
You see what I'm saying?
If Wimbledon is on, no tennis player is being stopped from playing tennis in London.
If Pipe is breaking then a whole community of pipe specialists unless they are in the event can't go down the road and surf another pipeline. It's not like a tennis court, or a footy ground, or a road.
Pro surfing is (almost) unique in the way it is parasitical and adversarial to the rec surfers who support it.
This is the Original Sin of pro surfing.
I believe this is the reason why it can never quite get significant enough of a fan base to fly.
And WSL has kind of admitted that by focussing the majority of it's marketing on finding a new fan base.
If anyone disagrees with this you are thick or obtuse or possibly both.
Like local surf comps on the weekend, fccck cnuts. Denying an entire community probably the best couple banks on the beach so you can have a fccckn comp.

No, trying to figure out what happened.
I was surfing that day, at the Point during the time of the alleged incident and heard or saw nothing.
It sounds a bit fishy to me....the alleged assault happened then wasn't reported for 2 weeks?

Waist to chest high lumpy peaks. Fairly soft but some of the lefts had a nice pocket and running bowl. Managed to hook up a satisfying backhand snap so thought I’d finish on a high note and came in.
89kg now and it’s starting to feel like I’m needing a touch more volume.
Might be time to hock a few of my sticks and get something new. A custom all rounder. Maybe something along the lines of a
takayama flow egg in a 6’6 but more towards the shortboard end of the spectrum with knifey rails and decent amount of rocker so I can lay into turns and surf steep in the pocket.

Or you could just lose some bulk.
Seems counterintuitive to get big when you like surfing.

Yeah but there’s plenty of (good) surfers around in the 90+ kg range, busting airs even. Can’t see myself loosing any bulk. Quite the opposite as the weights and calorie demands are on the increase.

No thanks. Hate the thruster/quad option, and want a single fin. Besides that looks a bit too bulbous, however probs would’ve been great for today conditions though

Flow eggs are meant to suck. How about a 6'6 Bonzer Egg.

Yep. Thinking of that too.
And nah, not the mctavish sumo, or takayama scorpion et al. I don’t want a flatish board that’s a essentially a lopped off longboard with a shortboard arse end.

I'm about to get smashed here.
But I agree with your approach Hatchman. My personal view is "hidden foam" bulky dulled down HPS shapes don't work well for the 90 plus kilo brigade. It's kind of pointless trying to ride them as they are a bit boring. You'd get better performance out of different type boards.
I look at guys like Neal Purchase JR, the Fitz brothers and those larger frames pushing buckets and they knew early what was what. By chance, or not, they've also tapped into a market. In any event you can't argue with their pedigree and skill.

Surfed by myself yesterday afternoon and again this morning. First was windy and lumpy, second tiny and glassy.
Waiting for the swell now.

Had a go on my mates mactavish sherpa the other week Hatch, real nice board, nice refined rails. Check it out.
