South facing cove beach down the south coast. Double overhead sets with occasional bigger ones at the peak of the swell.

Surfed two x two hour sessions and got a stack of waves.

Left and right peaks. Wedgy, and bit shifty with lots of water moving. But some great runs when you got into position.

Surfed my knifey 8ft gun. Very responsive, nimble and easy to turn for a board of its size.

Overkill for the size of the surf but still fun. Thought I’d give it a run to keep a feel for it, rather than use it only once a year or two in big stuff, only to have to try get my head around it each time I take it out.

Some decent waves at last. Checked a few places at dawn, but only saw the first set after about 30 mins... not promising

Took my time and got out at 7am, only two out, offshore, regular six wave overhead sets, ten minutes in between. Had my 7'4 so I took any wave I wanted. In just over an hour I had six good overhead waves, 50 - 100m rides.

Got out, as it will be much better later on and we old guys need to conserve our strength.

By the way the current length-of-ride record at this break is 650m

On a good day you can get 300/400 at my local.

Which, by the way, is benefiting from the lack of a web cam and the onset of cooler weather.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

My knees would be rooted if I do 3 turns on one wave
Then last few weeks there's hardly been a surf where I haven't had one or two all the way to the beach.
Friggin long paddle back. My knees are up to it but my shoulders sure let me know about it.

I'm old.
I wear a springsuit at this time of year. But I'm in the water at 5.45 am.
Still boardies if I go mid to late morning.

We do have reverse cycle aircon but it really only gets used in summer. Right now I'm waiting for the footy to start. Just wearing a pair of shorts.
Go inland a bit and you get freezing mornings come winter. Western suburbs of Brisbane and Ipswich. But not many days at a time.

Trev has no feeling anyway, he lost all feeling in a POW camp in ww1, after an "incident" with an enemy officer referred to as "donkey" for reasons Trev doesn't like talking about
