Re: Where did you surf today ?
Haven't surfed it in ages. Last time I was down there we surfed Bendalong and out the front at Cunjarong Pt. I always seem to wind up having a lone surf on the beachies there just after Xmas....and then finding out its mating season for sharks and there's hundreds cruising the coast. Timing.

The inside ones at GI are the best ones Duck as you well know. Nothing better than getting one off the boil.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Dawn surf check: head high sets to the horizon, winds offshore (which is where they've been for a week), low tide... think I'll wait another hour till there's about 6" over the reef.

I looked at it on the cams in the pre dawn glow after the buoys were showing 1-2m dead south at 8-10sec.petulance wrote:First decent session at Wanda this year.
It confirmed what I thought. tiny lines at wanda greenhills pretty much nothing south. drove south to a magnet
and got double the size, with only 2-3 other guys near me. came back to see swellnet saying the crowds were heavy
with 2ft waves in the shire.

Good day yesterday, swell was about twice the predicted size most of the day.
Only 6 out in the morning spread over about kilometre. A bit bumpy, only got a couple.
Afternoon was really clean, sets still 5' (apologies to Iggy, but it wasn't 6' nor was it 4') crowd slowly increasing from 3 to about 20 as the afternoon wore on and the swell slowly fell off

Aye! Currumbin 2-3 ft, got 2 long ones, banks are good, with todays swell angle creating multiple take off spots.
Checked Rainbow and Greeny but not much swell getting in there, only 1 foot and lots of surfers doing lots of waiting.

Barely two foot on the sets. Backwashy punchy shorebreak offering a quick dash down the line before it hit the beach. No surf pics, not worth the bother. But a cracking sunrise

the ranchdog and I have had 2 mornings in a row of good waves and just us.
he's been positively tripping over the fact no one else is out.

Braithy's neck of the woods, nice & clean on the bonzer. I had to park near a public toilet but didn't see Braithy lurking with intent clutching a surftech.....slightly disappointing

Watch out Crabmeat....that moniker is fought over down here you know. It's a fight between The Shire and The Peninsula. Although I think it has more to do with how many Hillsong Prayer Halls there are than surf.

God's country is the Shire.
Speaking of which, I just got out of a fun 1ft session at Wanda. An INXS tribute band was playing in the car park the entire time.
