Yes, very good BA.

I just noticed though that if you just use thousands of kJs you get a measure that is very close to surfers feet but obviously has a scientific basis. Lets call them mega joules (mJs).

So like surfers feet go from 1 to 15 feet (for the last bali swell), so we go from 1-15 mJs.

Nice eh? It seems there really is, in a roundabout way, a science basis to surfers feet.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

This topic is probably worthy of a PhD. There's not just the science, but also the social and philosophical aspects that need to be addressed.

I don't think there's any wave more perfect and beautiful than padang in all its glory.

Yesterday afternoon was perfect. By the "number of boards broken" measure it was the best day that I've ever seen in that bay where I spend most of my time.

There was a comp on up at Ulus. Who cares.

Given the proper acronym for megajoules is MJ, I propose that cranked's new measure be known as 'mong-jewels'.

i propose cranked's new name to be changed to mong jewels immediately.

tardg please amend!

old kirra was better. much better. breaking about 60m off shore and hugging big groyne & wrapping down into little groyne. the mechanical beauty of a 4-6-8ft swell. lines stacked up and bursting over the shallow bank. from land it was the most beautiful of sights a surfer could engage in. out in the water, it was pretty terrifying. I remember one session in the mid-late 90's where literally every time you fell off a wave, you broke your board. there were dozens of board pieces floating through the lineup ... just to remind you to make the drop.

Unfortunately, apart from videos and some movies I've never seen it. The reality is usually much more gobsmacking than something on a screen.

Kirra in the 80s
A mate living there would post me photos dredging brown perfection
With comments like it’s been so good so long there are days with only a dozen or so out
Torture to a Sydney bound surfer
And at the risk of being called an old fogey, Kirra in the mid to late 60s.
No rock walls at all. And the only sand pumping was what nature provided.
And the rocks on the point just waiting patiently for your pre-leash board.

Goddamn. It's up again. No-one out at Ulus. It's really getting into Impossibles/Bingin/Dreamland.

Four way, way out at the top of Impossibles, a 20' set just broke a 100m outside them.

Padang is closing out in the channel.

Haven’t surfed my new board yet. I’m getting twitchy. Every day that it remains flat I’m gonna hunt a human.
