Re: Where did you surf today ?
the points drive me to despair!
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I hear you brother but reckon you can find some gold amongst the madness.
Burleigh still has some order about it.
I've never been a fan of your local due to some of the craft you get out there, from windsurfers to dragon boats. But a week or so ago I had a really fun low tide session when the wind was a bit onshore but not strong enough for the windsurfers. There were heaps of gumbys out but they spent the whole time padding the sweep on the shoulder. It wasn't good enough for the heroes on jet skis, which I see as being a massive problem for there in the future.
Snapper is always a shit fight but I remember El Rancho saying once that "Snapper is a state of mind". He was right and I reckon the inside sections shit all over "behind the fcuken rock". I got one on Easter Monday just before dark from Little Mali through Greenmount and to the beach. What's that, about 300 metres? Longer? That coupled with a few others made it a memorable session and I thought that despite the crowds, we pay thousands of dollars to surf that quality overseas when we have it right here!

Loof. Much as I love a good digit up the rectum, I stand by the claim that when it's on up here,it's world class. Plus you don't have the thought in the back of your mind that you're gonna hit the reef.
You don't need to worry about that in your destination of choice though, and the Maldives is getting as crowded as the GC these days.

Currumbin Alley is a criminally underrated wave. over four foot on a lower tide it can really be game on out there.
anyone that's ever caught overhead waves at the alley, linking from the rock all the way thru to Lacey's lane and into the beach that still thinks it's not a good wave is a humoon of the highest order and probably has at least one mad hueys shirt

About 3 years ago. Brian announced that Lacey's was breaking like Lakeys. Don Weather had a conniption and he has rarely been seen since.
In fact he now has a little sand pit full of water where he crafts beautiful baby sandbanks by hand and has a fan set up to create offshore breezes. He also rocks back and forth a fair bit. But that's another matter.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
who woulda thought of all the names named in here, good old lacey's would be the one to tip him over the edge!
I surfed it a few times in the last month, all low tide action. it's been doable ...and er is right. snapper is a state of mind. you can't look at the people, just the waves.

Agreed. It's a ride I've made many times since 1964.Hatchnam wrote:Currumbin Alley is a criminally underrated wave. over four foot on a lower tide it can really be game on out there.

And on one memorable occasion, I had to swim from outside the keyhole into Lacey's. Then walk up the beach about a klm and swim out into the channel to retrieve my board. Leggie broke when I got lip launched on take off.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
took a short drive and scored a few long hollow ones.
all the beachies near me are just as you described. steep takeoff, then lucky if it's one turn into a fat gutter.

Bit groggy this morn, headed out mid morn and greeted by head-overhead perfect lefts, no one out, perfect sunny day and a public holiday.
I'm not complainin.
