It was a surprise to me too.
They were slow but fairly regular easterly sets, flatness in between.

There's some incredible sand there at the moment.

Beautiful morning at Lowers today, really pretty 4' new SW swell, it'd be so fun if it barrelled.

I keep hearing that.

Still so gutted down here.....it's amazing.
May is normally the peak month for sand transport, you can see that clearly in the TRESBP monthly sand flow figures.

Had another very, very mediocre surf in rock runners yesterday, like the last one and the last one and the last one.
Better than closed out beachies though.

Gave up trying to ride a high perf thruster out there and went back to a 5'10" Octafish bonzer. That made more sense of it.

62 guys out at DY Point at 6am. Probably another 20 or so waiting to paddle out or getting ready in the carpark.

How many decent waves would break at the point between 6-7.30am?
I'd be finding a different morning routine or stick to the gentleman's hour.

About the same amount at the point here. Crazy windy but there were some pumping waves. Everybody is desperate I guess

I remember some wheelchair xylophonist getting all macho about how he liked to smash absolutely heaps of Weetbix before a hard day's roofing

Don't rub it in Boo.

I've flogged the water to foam this year without a single pelagic hook-up.

Only option for me, unfortunately. Some days I can pick my windows, days like this it's all about balance with minimal impact on family. I've got kids allllll day.

First go out since mid Feb. Cronulla beachies at a solid 6 foot plus. Bit raw and wobbly with shutdowns but still plenty good peaks in the mix.

Surfed the 6’2 lost. Tested it out with the quad set up for something different. Was fast high lining and beating down sections. But when it came to turns on the inside bowl I soon wished I’d had it set up as a thruster.

Fair enough. I just don't enjoy myself in crowds and my surfing goes to shit and I come in grumpier than I went out. There are exceptions though when thevwaves are good and consistent.
You get any good ones this am?

Totally agree. I tend to hang further inside when it's that crowded and hope for some sneaky ones, but there weren't many going wanting out there. I managed to get two good ones, one real grower that went to the sheds. Not a big wave count, that's for sure!

After our summer of shame and lame autumn I'd take a low wave count in good waves rather than a million mediocre rides any day of the week.

super fun chunky wedges today. back on the high perf thruster.

It'll be touch and go.....that fetch was really tucked in, so I expect the Hunter curve to shave off a lot of size.

also the Point has no sand.

probably more like fun waves at other spots.

Surfed thick open ocean swell down from Harbour to Long Reef and further north on a 6m glass cuddy + 4.6l V8 250 Merc. Friggin love when a good planing hulled boat feels a swell on its arse and starts running with it.
Passing in close to Long Reef bombies and the box etc looked awesome in early morning hard offshore and sparkly morning Autumn light. Wind died after lunch.
