There is a bit of that, but the majority appears to happen even more in small swell conditions, if anything.

Mediated die back may be an occurrence in your freezing part of the world GStQ but it happens here all year round, cold, hot, warm, summer , winter, autumn, whatever. Water temps and seasonal change seems to have nothing to do with it, at least on the east coast of Aus. It's been doing my head in for 30 years. It seems so random, yet I'm sure it isn't.

Ah, then it will be irrevocable chemical build up during the growth phase from recruit to adult and the mass acid release/dieback that occurs thereafter

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

What sort of seaweed, duck?
Got a mate who is a marine botany expert, I'll ask him.

Not sure Boo, I'll take a pic.
It's fairly typical lightish brown kelp like weed for the most part. Some have those grape shaped float sacs that are not bad projectiles if you squeeze them between your fingers just right.

Bang, new month, SW wind, feels and looks like autumn already and some nice peaks around with no crowds.

Lumpy 3-4 foot maroubra and fairly punchy on the inside bowl. The lib tech construction is feeling near identical to a standard pu. Handles chop and bump no problems. Fast steady board and has a tonne of drive, it lit up nicely on a down the line sprint. Reckon it’ll still handle some decent size for a smaller wave board.

Long Reef, random lumps detonating, high tide making some a touch flabby. 3 foot or so, maybe 4 if the tide was lower. Crowd factor pretty minimal for a Saturday.

Not sure if I will brave the toxic post thunderstorm runoff yet.

bit smaller down the coast, maybe 2-3ft. Bigger sets were infrequent. Magic conditions, no wind, warm water. Had a little left hand bank to ourselves.

Absolute crap at Bondi..plus way too crowded. Too many kooks and snakers loitering around.

Fuck eh it was sick up here today, solid 3-5' se swell then an overlay from the east slowly filling in as the se dropped out. A lot of energy, like about 10 days worth of January energy. Add to yesterday, Feb's already outdone Jan. Fun as.

Plenty of fun around Poles. High tide kind of killed it a bit but got plenty of waves, some good ones especially if you could link over the dead section between the outside banks and inside banks.
