I totally agree with some variant of this.ctd wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2017 2:01 pmWas watching a video the other day of the first Duke Kahanamoku 'comp' (1965). It was a bit hard to tell but looked like they put the surfers into 3 groups of about 8-10 for an hour or so, and scored the 5 highest waves
So instead of this two man tactical match racing stuff, lets go full on fleet racing - have 4 heats of 8, each heat for an hour or so and score multiple waves (judges can decide on the number of waves depending on conditions - might be 2, might be 5). Top 2 or 3 go through, thats day 1. Ebbs and flows like a test match. Have two surfers team up and block a third... priority might be an issue I guess. But turns the comp into the same as normal surfing
2 day comp.
1st day some kind of leaderboard/Eddie style comp....easy to follow for non surfers. Rewards radical surfing, gets rid of the laggards.
Day2 man on man for the finalists.

Yesterday was better than Tuesday.
Today was better than yesterday.
Finished a 3 hour session with the wave of the day and there was still 8" of water over the reef so I could drift in

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just got back from two days surfing a popular mid north coast point break. Lovely weather and lots of long rides on the log.

There's one good bank on the GC beaches at the moment and the Channel 7 news surf reporter announced it tonight. I'm gonna take my daughter's nipper board out in the morning and run over every retard I can. Professor, I expect your support. It's at Miami.

It is a good bank ... but she's all over now.

Chased a few waist high walls. Fun as
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just saw Curly doing a fair impression of the superbank without the superbank waves.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just got in from a quick go out at north curly. Some ok peelers coming thru. About every "10 minutes" - lots of waiting around. Pretty small though, with just as much backwash and current as what there is swell.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I couldn't make a case for it. Just too many punters. Maybe I need a mini mal. Or a log to run people over.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
There was only me on the bank I had. Bank far north end. Left rip bowl. But pretty boring
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I went longboarding this morning as there's a really good bank for it near home. First time in 2-3 months. I thought I had been surfing shorties so well lately but was all over the place on the single fin log.
I used to be able to interchange seamlessly. Must be gettin old.
