The Col Smith ones are deadly, https://sideways.com.au/free-flight-col ... ingle-fin/ .
The channels are so deep and go so far up to the middle of the board, if you had a walled up wave, I reckon you would hit warp speed in about one second. Pity anyone who got in your way because stopping or turning might be a challenge.

sooooo much fun today! Messing round on a 6'9" Banksy, that yellow-gold one. I fcuked the quads off and made it a thruster, so much better.
6'9" is a muscle board, you can really bang it into things.
Finished the session off on a 6'0" MC reverse vee round pin, mental. Big Simon was on the beach and actually offered me a compliment. I haven't heard big Sime proffer a compliment since maybe 1977.

Great suit for a season before they fall apart.steve shearer wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 11:46 amwow, just had a look at wetsuit prices.
600-700 for a rip curl steamer.
Insane, anyone paying that?
Just got myself an Xcel 2mm comp steamer for $230. Got a real nice internal lining. So far feels warm, light and flexible.
Check out Hyperide in NZ Steve.

Saw that: flat lock seams are useless though. It's barely worth a 50 spot.
Couldn't see a decent wetty on there for under 300

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I’ve been impressed so far with my vissla 7 seas 4/3. Very flexible and comfortably warm enough for the 12 degrees it is at the moment. I’m a bit suss on the My suit is so warm I don’t need boots/gloves [delete as applicable] school of thought but here I am booties off way earlier than I normally would and absolutely fine. We’ll see about longevity but it’s a big thumbs up so far

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Thanks Boo, looks good.
I only need a steamer for dawn patrols, where air temp is close to zero and water temp is 19-21.
it'a just wind chill, so you need sealed seams.
By 10am you can be surfing in boardies on a nice day.

Yep. Wind chill must have been around 1 here today at 6am.
Water is still good for a swim once the suns up.

Today was a classic example.
Quite often below zero with wind chill during July/Aug.
Wetsuit has to be sealed.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Disagree. Well, I agree with the general point about overlock/flatlock suits but surely you need proper seams for cold water not cold air

Re: Where did you surf today ?
You’re saying you need sealed seams because the air is cold even though the water is boiling. I’m saying you don’t. Clearer?
