Newcastle, at least on the coast and around the city and the hill, looks to be a great spot from what i've seen. Prolly plenty of other spots that are great as well in the area that i don't know, but that hill and the local beaches feel like sydney was 40 years ago, no crowds and a loose vibe, except with way better everything. The Mighty Sunbird wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:16 pmHappy days

It was so good this afternoon Cranked. The extraordinariness of it kind of sent me into a spin.Cranked wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 7:28 pmAnd this is what we live for.black duck wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 6:35 pmThe late this arvo down south was fun as fcuk. Bout 4-5 ft fairly solid at the local swell magnet beachy, lined up and consistent, about 8-10 guys out and the LAGO helping to clean up conditions dramatically. The late autumnal sun was just catching the feathering of the sets, giving them an orange glow.

Forgot to mention the concurrent story that informs the above.
Woke as the morning light filled the room and got up to make coffee. Started to feel a little like needing the can about 7am. Before 8.30am I had already been through a complete roll of toilet paper, having been to the shitter 3 times in an hour and almost blown up the Royal Dalton with the explosive power of the shit that was damaging the bowl. Consequently, I was feeling a little fragile when mate picked me up in the morning to surf nth end. We arrived about 10.00am to a surf crowd of 60 plus and fcuking chaos with everyone kind of cursing the crowd. It was clean and glassy and looked good but was a bit Clayton’s. I didn’t go out as I thought there was a high chance I was going to brown out my wetsuit, so I watched the whole mid morning session in the sun while my bowels sorted out their problem. So, I didn’t surf in the morning crowd but just watched a few mates surf with the sun on my back.
I only surfed the late. The hard core anal burn has disappeared so all is good, thanks for asking.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I haven't seen a barrel all autumn.
Last one I saw was Cyclone Oma at Kirra.
Surfed fun head high waves at a local Point yesterday and almost got killed by some Swiss backpacker who threw his board into the set wave I was riding.
I sent him in.
Another 4-5days of onshore winds ahead.
Have to be a helluva May now to rescue this autumn from worst ever.

Bitchen little surf at home. New MC 6'0" revee round pin, I turned it once and knew this was a fantastic board. Reverse vee is so strange, it's so soft underfoot but there's so much power and punch in turns. After the big 10 channel singly at Winkipop it felt like the easiest board I've ever ridden.

Nobbys, Cowrie Hole, Newcastle Main, Bar, Dixon Park and Merewether all within walking distance of The Hill more or less. Nelson Bay half an hour away and about the same to the Cenral Coast......if you don't look at a pile of good beaches on the way.black duck wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:25 pmNewcastle, at least on the coast and around the city and the hill, looks to be a great spot from what i've seen. Not Bondi specifically, but Sydney. She has life, friends and job connections here.steve shearer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 11:22 amShe want to stay in Bondi? The Mighty Sunbird wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:16 pmHappy days

Plus, she thinks Newcastle is a shithole, because 1970s ethnic slur goes here racism. Seems to result in her believing all novocastrians are subhuman, even though she married one.
Women, huh?
Erase.

Me too. First surf of new stick today. Quaddy.
I don't know why but I find the quad setup kind of ugly to look at and feel like it will go shithouse.
But I'm a full convert on these Muz bourton round tail quads.
So good forehand and backhand.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I've had one for a while. Took it to Bali a couple of years ago. I think it's a bit long for the shape. Have occasionally had a very fast wave on it but compared to the other two quads I've had the Burton has a couple of hang up.....particularly on take off.
The Tolhurst Fish I've been riding is pretty fcuking amazing now I've got it tuned.
