Yeah, never know how you can piss off every day, Hatchie. Definitely not a regular job.

Not to you, obviously. To someone else it may very well mean that the excellent conditions created the illusion that it was worth paddling out. Sure didn't stop a huge band of punters from having a crack.

So it’s not worth padding out in excellent conditions, because they are an illusion!

this is like a Carlos Castenada book.
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I work funny hours and can generally pick windows to go surfing based around the conditions, which is probably twice a week (aside from the weekends). Overall, I still work a 40 hour week at least.
But that’s beside the point. Surely if you saw it breaking yesterday, then you also weren’t working. So your distraction question to me is totally pointless.
They were probably all just talking themselves up hey beanmong?Beanpole wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:59 pmNot to you, obviously. Re: Where did you surf today ?
Well Monday was the best day of the year in Sydney and yesterday was the second best, it was forecast for days ahead and even a bat coulda seen it on the weather charts*, you don’t get a whole lot more predictable than that.
But still it wasn’t all that crowded along much of the northern beaches, where ARE these hundreds of thousands of surfers that wave pool businesses, SA etc keep insisting live in Sydney?
And don’t just say “work”, even Polebean found time to not surf Tamarama.
*well maybe not a bat, like as if a bat could give a shit about what the surf’s like

Um, yeah.....sure Having been out there twice on the weekend I had a pretty good idea of my chances of scoring a wave in 15 minutes before it got dark with about 100 guys in the water. Excellent conditions don't make excellent waves everywhere. I guess you guys think differently though. The Mighty Sunbird wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 6:15 amSo it’s not worth padding out in excellent conditions, because they are an illusion!

Got any pics/vids, Steve?
It's been so flat hot and dry here in NC for so long I'm thinking of building a wave pool.

Sometimes I wonder you are taking the piss or if it's a legitimate question.Nick Carroll wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 7:09 amWell Monday was the best day of the year in Sydney and yesterday was the second best, it was forecast for days ahead and even a bat coulda seen it on the weather charts*, you don’t get a whole lot more predictable than that.

But I'll bite, ever had to consistently deal with Sydney public transport? Or work in the city (or just not from home)?
My best case scenario for the last 2 days if i surfed and got to work.
Up at 6am, at beach and suited up by 6.15.
Get out of water at 6.40am. Back home by 7am.
Shower, shave etc, leave house at 7.25 to get 7.40 bus.
Means i get into city around 8.30 and into my office by 8.45.
If i left the office at 3.45, i could get home to grab board and be at the beach for maybe 4.50pm, if traffic was good.
I'm on the lower northern beaches, if i was up your way, i doubt that would be possible.
That's the reality of the northern beaches/city worker life in June and July.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yeah I’m kinda taking the piss there c
I worked in Sydney for a decade then moved to southern fcuking California.
There's no way I'm going through that shit again. I'd rather be one of the underemployed.
Still plenty of swell today, already a bit bumped from the impending SE wind, I imagine still some good waves here and there

Re: Where did you surf today ?
bit of a perfect storm here .
Sunday was outrageously crowded and packed.
Monday the same on an almost insanely over-hyped swell.
Monday was very ordinary here, really ordinary and with the incredible hype on Snapper/Kirra it meant a very low crowd here Tuesday, because the hordes of people who headed down here went to Snapper/Kirra.
Monday afternoon also somehow managed to lay down a nifty little sandbar, that was close to perfect for the dimensions of yesterdays swell.
A little gift for the true believers.
That sandbar is almost completely gone today, so it's back to basics.

I assumed so. I get pretty cranky when i see all the images of the last 2 days coming in and know that I won't be able to to get anywhere near it.Nick Carroll wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 8:18 amYeah I’m kinda taking the piss there c
