It’ll be either a 6”10 or 7”2. Either a 2+1 or a 5fin bonzer. 6”10,would be more versatile, but the 7”2 could cover more ground in the bigger stuff. It’ll be for shoulder high to double over head plus. Beachies, reefs, points.

I rode my MiniMerk in a few late sessions this week, such a great design, loving the speed I can get it up to.

went back and surfed high tide rock break with my wife.
my best friend and his son were out, one other guy.

wife wasn't that keen on the high tide rock-off ....thats a marital disaster if it goes wrong.

sun came out, surf thickened up , about as good as rock break gets.

whale of a time.
What a day, hey?
I also surfed a high tide ledge/reef.
Must've been a different one to you though.

Channels. How do you find it compared to a thruster ?

Lacks the instant acceleration but has way more flow. A few times ive blown bottom turns due to poor technique, i reckon on a thruster, you can get away with errors and recover far easier from poor positioning. If i was a ripping surfer, i think it would frustrate me. But the board almost forces you to do proper rail turns.

I find i also surf better on a thruster after being on the bonzer, body position is lower, technique on turns seems better, for a while anyway.

Yep. More flow and less room for errors. Just like a single, you need to be on point with your timing and positioning or it all comes apart.

Bronte was pretty big and getting bigger. Way too many shutting down but the occasional one looked to be breaking through okay. Fun watching the three surf boats getting out. Someone had their timing right.

One guy on a minimal type board caught a couple of bigger sets from way out. They held up a lot better. Tempting but the floggings looked a bit too constant.

I've criticised bonzers before but there's nothing to criticise here:

Woke up for a dawny at the Point with my wife.

There were van loads of euros hanging in the car park checking Magic Seaweed, which had majestically called , I dunno, seven and a half feet or something. Maybe 9 feet.
Surf Forecast had said 2 thousand kilojoules.

It was one foot rock break.

pretty much dead flat at every beach , or close enough to.

ended up at a Ballina swell/shark magnet. The main one was about 3 feet and had a million people out.
\
I surfed incon 2 with the odd 3 footer little ledge runners.

My wife declined the go out.

Astounding, but not really, when you looked at the size of that low and how little surf it produced.

The next one does more of the same, with a slightly better looking fetch. Hopefully it will avoid the hype of this last one.

You get some Buddy?
? Surf Forecast for Lennox at 8am: 380 kilojoules, 4.5', period 11s, crossoff at 10mph = marginal surf conditions, ok if there's nothing better to do.

Either he has no idea how to use forecasting sites or it’s a wonderfully dexterous piece of longitudinal trolling. Just sit back and enjoy the show would be my recommendation

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

I know, I know, but if you think about it, there’s no 5’ so it makes sense

Makes perfect sense. Bigger than 4 foot, definitely not 6 foot, there is no 5 foot. He's nailed it.

Iggy - confirmation of the Iggy scale if you would.

5 foot exists. Very commonly so.

The scale goes...

1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,12,15,18,huge

I'd like to congratulate the big wave tour for measuring waves appropriately ... by the face height, thank you.

Here we go again.

This is correct. If you are using any other numbers other than these, you should be in the tard final. In fact you should just be given the title.

There was a clip of Taylor Steele about a year ago on a bonzer, everyone thought it was great but all I saw was someone forcing a board that didn't want to turn in a tight arc into turning, it was jerky and disjointed, no flow . It was like a dancing bear, its not that the bear dances well, its that it dances at all. Machado is flowing, he's not forcing the board into doing something it doesn't want to do.

Surf forecast said 2000kj three? Days ago.

That was their forecast.

It was out by a factor of six compared to the reality on the day.

Magic Seaweed wasnt much better.

Three days out is pretty close to the event to get it so badly wrong.

Not so Godsave?
