the beachies i surfed were throwing pretty hard and breaking square on the sets. if they coulda stayed open a little longer it would have been a mad little session. i think with more tide, they woulda started opening up ... but i wasn't waiting for the wind to fray it's edges.

And when you say 'out there', you mean reclining on your leather lounge with a croque monsieur and a glass of pinot in between checking the Bondi cam and how your stocks are performong.

Not a slip, Steve. Started as a typo but I liked it.

I was overgunned and under-balled at Sandon.

Had the choice of a 6’0 or a 7’6” and on witnessing a massive 6-8 ft set wash through I chose the latter. But that meant I was supposed to go out the back and today I really wasn’t feeling confident.

I pulled back on some good wide ones which are gonna haunt me, caught one average wave which turned out to be a precurser to a 8 wave set which totally fcuking buried me.

Went in.

Nah, the brother had a dig at 6-8ft. That's all that counts, we have all been humbled before.

Sandon is a fairly ledgy wave with a quick take off. I once took a gun out there and soon wished I was on a much smaller board, as the run up time needed for the gun simply wasn’t there.

Yep exactly. I hated my board and had no confidence in it, although it was great for scratching over the sets.

It’s a very honest relationship with the ocean and today I felt like I wasn’t really into it.

Yeah I had a bit of a kooky session also. Really hard to get into position on take off with the south current running full speed. Positioning was down to the wire. And if you missed it, you were out of line for the next ones.

That was like my first time out there, with you. I was brickin' it.
