Surfed a rivermouth/point beachie on the tweed coast mid morning, on a window where the swell spiked a bit and before the wind ruined it. Fun consistent two foot with three foot sets. A bit fat but still had some shape, with some pretty long rides all the way to the beach. Had to fade back deep and wait for the wave to hit the inside bank and bowl up, then come from behind it to get a good run happening.

Then back to mates place. Pulled out a few of twenty or so old boards he's had in his garage for years. Amongst it, San Juan, jet, Shane, honnesey. And a nice home brew amber ale to finish the day.

He had over 50 at one stage. Used to run an advert in the local paper "old surfboards wanted - cash paid". Average price he's paid is around $100 each. Some as little as twenty bucks.

Think them days are long gone

yeah but plenty more overhead days in the southern half of NSW, and places that better handle size. Plus we got reefs.

If I had constant free time Monday to Friday (not working, just surfing) then the preferred choice would be to relocate south of jervis bay, not SEQ/far NSW

I'm saying it's not exactly a quite village atmosphere. Jesus it's busier than most capital cities (not there's anything wrong with that).

I've always had a soft spot for the Gold Coast. Spent a bit of time up there again in the last couple of years. It's got more of a city feel now. I could easily live there these days......or within striking range of there and Brisvegas .....trouble is the surfs too crowded.

On the beach breaks on the Gold Coast it can be quite friendly. There for a couple of weeks in May. Had to get used to everybody saying hello.

If I lived on the goldy instead of surfing a mini Malibu 7% of the time, I'd be surfing it more like 30% of the time, maybe more.

Because much smaller waves on average and crowd control.

And I'd plaster it with mad hueys stickers.

I'd probably have a mal out at Currumbin half the time. Frequent trips north and south. I enjoyed hitting Burleigh a couple of times over the last while too. A couple of B Grade spots on the Tweed Coast would feature prominently.

I reckon I'd miss surfing the Mid Nth Coast a lot.
