Re: Where did you surf today ?
Saw a big manta ray at Bronte when I was kooking out trying to get the feel of this new board.
I've rarely felt unspecific dread in the surf. Most memorable was one time at Crescent the sky was really dark with storm clouds and then the sun dropped below them as it was about set and light up everything with this glaring light. Just felt really spooky.

Bells/Winki absolutely pumping. Looks to be 10-12ft at least.

Nah, I follow a couple of local photographers on insti since it was home for many years. I think Nick was going. Hope he took some bigger boards.

If you're on instagram, check out Steve Ryan photography. He reckons sets were feathering a km out to sea. Serious swell.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
nah when they pulled the plug on the event on Thursday night my excuse for a surf trip vanished. I couldn't believe they didn't press go, the consensus was that it'd be 6-8' but I don't think they took a close enough look at the swell angle, it was very south which always drives more swell up into the strait and is a more direct angle onto the Bells area. I bet it's completely pumping today too.

oh and just to top it off I stabbed myself in the eye yesterday arvo with a stick while chopping down a tree trying to use up the excess energy I'd stored up for 10-12' winter Bells.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Got motivated. Decided to go down to the beach. Surf then meet up with wife for breakfast after she finishes swimming. About a block away from home realised I forgot my wallet. Went back. Off I went. Checking it out. Mal comp. a few waves but lots of close outs. Hop out to get ready and realise I've grabbed my sons wetsuit by mistake. Drove home to get wetsuit. Decided Id wait for my wife to come home from swimming and have breakfast. Surf this arvo.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Paddled in between sets, I was down the bottom so just paddle about 30m straight in and caught a small broken wave and belly boarded in.
It was cathederal rock, I have had 2 heart attacks out there in the same conditions and I was feeling a little weird after the full bore paddle to get to deep water, I thought about paddling out to the take off and getting one wave and if i didn't feel good just go in, but really it was not worth it anyhow and the little voice said abort.
Today's quit clean, stiff offshore and dying swell, still solid 6' on the sets.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Mystics was great today - even with the super high tide and fresh wind. Swell is getting in there and it wasn't crowded. Lots of good waves today. Forecast looks good this week.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
First time I surfed Cathedral Rock I nearly had a heart attack myself. Was 4 foot when Mate and I paddled out, within 2 or 3 sets it was more than twice as big and we were totally disorientated and couldn't figure out how to get in. Waves were smashing up against the rocks down the line further.Rustt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2017 9:32 amPaddled in between sets, I was down the bottom so just paddle about 30m straight in and caught a small broken wave and belly boarded in.
