The poetry was written yesterday Loof. About 4.02pm with a way over head screamer. Driving my 6'10 through turns like a race car. You should have seen me mate.

well the Moon was a crescent this morning and pitched very close to Venus in the early morning sky. Add that to the Solstice and you've got all sorts of shit in the offing

think I'm gonna go down to Bells, rustt might be all "wankers" etc but I've known the Brooks family since before Shaun was born, and they're fine with people surfing during the event as long as you give plenty of room.

even if it's not on it's still gonna be somewhat off the hook.
That's fine Nick, got no problem with a bunch of friends getting together and celebrating a mates life, but when they turn it into a commercial thing I reckon it smells a bit off. A few of the guys I know from Torquay that would normally be frothing to surf Bells wont be, I doubt that if they paddle out they would be welcome, what would be the point of invites if that were the case? :)

I may have jumped the gun a bit on who was invited so retract that bit.

I think a lot of surfers are getting a bit sick of bells and winki getting used as a contest venue so often, it does not directly affect me as I live further down the coast, but the knock on effect is we get groups of surfers travelling down here cause bells is off limits.

It seems to be dropping off a bit now but over an hour ago there were a couple of pretty muscley six foot sets. Windy and shifty conditions, hard to position yourself. Got a couple of real bowly screamers, full tilt speed runs, no time for snaps. It's fast as fk down the line that little 80's belly channel thruster of mine

It's not a commercial thing, it's a fundraising event for charities connected with mental illness.

It's gonna last four hours of whatever day it's called on.

Winner gets a board as a trophy, replica of Shaun's favoured 8'8" which he used at Two Mile to such great effect.
