There are worst things than having a surf session in God's country with INXS tracks audible from the lineup.

The Hills District is Sydney's real own "Gods Country". That's where Hillsong started.
Gold Coast is somewhere between Heaven and Hell.....purgatory?

that late arvo pulse was a pleasant, though not un expected surprise. seabreeze! gotta love it. then again, driving by on the way home from a footy match at Qns Pk to see it rolling in helped.
managed an hour before dark in punchy rip bowls.

Bronte was like a mill pond at lunch time. Very pleasant for a swim though before the wind came up. Should have checked it.

Skulked over to the Bra for a grovel. The odd okayish looking one coming through but hard to snare with the crowd. Some good looking ones up in the comp area on the main peak at the north End. A Brazilian guy was babbling about being told to get out of the contest area. Funny they had loudspeakers, IRB clubbies and even a paddleboard clubbie telling people to move away.
No one was really close to the comp though. It was just that the wide ones could be picked up further down the line if no one caught it. It wasn't the fcuking state titles.
Guy pissing around with a speargun in the middle of the pack was scarier. Aren't there laws about spear fishing in amongst people?

Must have missed you. I avoid peak hour on weekends but had to do a late morning session today. The crowd reminded me why I avoid late morning weekend sessions.Beanpole wrote:Skulked over to the Bra for a grovel. The odd okayish looking one coming through but hard to snare with the crowd.

Had early morning fun at Warriepoo. North end. Just me and the missus. Waist high and pretty consistent. Waters still warm, but plenty of fish breaking the surface, birds swooping and a pod of dolphins. Always makes me a little uneasy.

Tide was starting to get a bit low too. The right down further was starting to look okay. Wind started getting up a little as I left.petulance wrote:Must have missed you. Re: Where did you surf today ?
It's pretty special isn't it? I had a mate up a few weeks ago and he surfed it on the high tide and said it was nothing special. Took him down just after the low and he wants to move up here now.crabmeat thompson wrote:the wave pool from little marley down into greeny ... man oh man.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Took out my wife's old 7'6" mini-mal (hi iggy!) this morning. Actually a bit more push and consistent. Could have ridden the shorty. Got a stack of fun ones and all the old mal riders said hello for a change and wanted a chat. Bloody cliquey bastards.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I remember that happening when I used to alternate between a mal and a short board. Now I just ride my mid length/ minimal and everyone can just get out of my way.BA wrote:Took out my wife's old 7'6" mini-mal (hi iggy!) this morning. Actually a bit more push and consistent. Funny a lot of old mal riders have dropped out of the line up in the last few years. Mostly the ones who couldn't surf to start with. They turn up for comps though. The days of them having a big advantage are long gone.

Agreed, the Curly longboards think they are cool, I'm like "but you ride a long board"
