Congratulations, Hatchie. I like Sandon as a wave. Werri sucks though. Always interested in Boneyards but never got it on. Red Sands...dunno. You have a nice sleep now after all that driving.

Kinda a burgery cover up at boneyards on the inside bowl. But I wouldn't qualify it as a barrel. Redsands, no unfortunately. There were long waits, and it was shifty. Thought I was going to get covered up but ended up getting slapped hard on the end section as it closed out (east swell) .Lucky Al wrote:barrels?
Did about a hundred turns throughout the day though.

By locals you mean the gerringong aboriginals not a bunch of white blokes bobbing around on foam and resin claiming a public space as their own?

There was an aboriginal embassy set up at Sandon for quite a while. Don't know if it's still there.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
That tent embassy was in response to the proposed development at Sandon. After the project went ahead they stayed there. I smoked a few bongs with them one day after a surf at Sandon on my way home. The thing they told me was that they couldn't afford to live in Bulli/Thirroul anymore and the only way they could afford to live in the area was by continuing to live on the beach because no one was ever going to move them on.Beanpole wrote:There was an aboriginal embassy set up at Sandon for quite a while. Would have been a choice spot pre whitey. I love it around the boat ramp there.

Relatively uncrowded
A dozen long mini roller coaster rides is enough to start the week on the 8-1
Had to slow right down after 3 weeks of riding short boards in indo
Derek Hynd was flying finless thru the inside sections

Had to take the dog for an operation at the surfcoast vet, so went to 13th beach for a bit of suburban surf, very average easterly swell and summery conditions, came close to falling asleep out there. Learnt to surf there, hasn't really changed much in 40 years.
