Saw two injuries today. A guy got cut on his cheek by his board and a bird had a cut near her eyebrow after face planting into the reef.

what's really been getting me down is the bank situation after 3-4 days of 4ft+ surf... it's gutted the place around here. big inshore gutter which leads out to a big fat piece of shit on the storm bar.
the banks have always been fragile and fickle, but i can't remember such a small swell having such a prolific effect on the place.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I had my first surf in three months on Saturday. Lumpy, bumpy and a bit full ... but heavenly nonetheless.
Went for a paddle this morning, oh the ignominy. If the novelty of surfing shit doesn't wear off real fast.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I still blame that big winter swell - it was amazing but it felt like it was blowing away all the banks that develop over winter for a good fun spring and summer of beach breaks. A lot of the point breaks/north sides of river mouths are pretty devoid of sand around here too - my guess is the consistent runs of extremely south swells.saltman wrote:Yeh that too - Its what I had been surfing since FridayBraithy wrote:saltman wrote:What a waste of decent swell the last 4 days

Lumpy old peaks that run into deep water and fatten up quickly - then reform to an inshore close out
really cannot be bothered with this crap

ˆˆwhere are you based at sh?
Re: Where did you surf today ?
au contraire
Southerly swell produced sizeable almost glassy walls real early on Sunday morning down in the deep south (no not that deep)
Late Saturday arvo/early evening was an eye opener, a fair bit larger than the forecast predicted and few takers...bit of a contrast to the weekend before, sharing a 2-3ft onshore bank at Collaroy with 50 of my new best mates.

Yep a weeks enjoyment in June did a fair bit of damage. Byron points seem ok, most of the ones south of that are still fucked.

Bit south of you Braithy....but not as far south as the Shearer.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
About a dozen or more 200 metre long waves, walled up and down the line. Long paddle back out thru the channel. Surprisingly uncrowded. Dicey mid-tide rock off this morning. A good ten min wait for it.

Farm was solid this arvo. Lots of long rides and not crowded. Had a very long left and right to myself for an hour and a half. It's a once a year thing...

True, but full of lids. Not perfect sth swell for it, had a bit of east in it. The left would've been good though.saltman wrote:Aussie Pipe would have been on !
Just south of there today was ok. Beaches were out of control generally but a few spots were firing. Enough swell to sneak into the bays and fire up a couple of reefs that need some size to work. Bendy was north of 6 ft and good but not really a paddle option. No one out. The island as the swell settled to a solid 4ft was ok but for 2 or 3 car loads of nth coast wankers who were doing a yearly surf trip and trying to own it. Paddling up the inside and being loud mouthed cnuts for the most part. Good waves spoiled by too many people and too much bravado.
Monday is the new sunday. Nobody seems to work anymore. All they do is surf.

I was going to say it seems to be busy down there for a Monday.

No truer words written. It's such as shame green island has been ruined by wankers. The only way to get a wave is to paddle out over the shark pit predawn...black duck wrote:True, but full of lids. I once had some trouble out there a few years back with a group of poms, who came out and snaked, hassled and dropped in. One even had the audacity to ask me where a good place to go out was. I told him the Marlin in Ulladulla was a super 'friendly' place for tourists.
