Re: Where did you surf today ?
thats where they like to hang out Offy.......
they pulled them out with special tick tweezers, which they had on hand.
which looked like normal tweezers to me.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The way to do it is put a glob of Vaseline over the tick, suffocating it, once dead the probiscis which opens up like a 'V' under the skin, closes, and it pulls out easy.offshore1 wrote:
But to me ticks are the worst, they are an absolute bitch to remove without their godforsaken mouth parts ripping off from their evil bodies and remaining embedded to fester, infect and inflame.
?
At the moment ticks are at the nymph stage about 1mm in size, been getting a few on myself lately whenever I go bushwalking.
Grass ticks are the stage before nymphs and nymphs the stage before paralysis ticks.
During springtime the female paralysis tick has a nice $2.50 bounty on the poison it carries.
Quite a few people who react badly to them carry epipens, even the accumulative poison from tiny grass ticks can make people sick.
The best way to remove lots of grass ticks is wet the area with Tea tree oil and shave them off with a disposable razor.

You don't need to go to a doctor to get a tick out, unless it's up your Jap's eye.
Everywhere else, just pull it out with your fingers. Use tweezers if you feel you need to. Do it quick so they won't release too much poison.
Offy - the heads don't snap off (at least in Australia). I've pulled out hundreds with my fingers and never had one break off.
Maybe SC has the weak neck variety of Tick.
Grass ticks you just scratch out - fcukers are too small to see most of the time anyway, just a tiny black speck.
Carvin Marvin is right, Vasoline works, if you're prepared to wait while the tick suffocates in your body.

They sure are....nice show out the front yesterday. And have heard another report of a similar size shark seen at Belongil a week ago.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
From a Lyme Disease website:
" If A Tick Bites You:
Don’t squeeze, twist or squash it. Don’t burn it with a match or cover it with Vaseline.
Use fine-point tweezers or a special tick-removing tool. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible. If you don’t have tweezers, protect your fingers with a tissue."
